OK so after painstaking analysis of progressive and digressive racing suspensions, I narrowed my choice to King, Fox and Icon. All are top suspension lifts for the Tacoma. Fox dropped out because the steel construction of the housings rust and require too much maintenance. Both King and Icon using aluminum housings, and build reserve reservoir shocks with adjustment values to dial in soft to hard. The King coilovers start at the bottom (softest) and you dial in stiffness, whereas the ICON design starts in the middle and you can tune up or down. Kings are progressive...stiffen at speed, ICON is digressive, softening at the extreme of the g scale. Given my daily commute length, digressive is a better fit. Lastly, ICON builts complete systems including rear leaf packs and UCAs. So I went with a stage 6 with tubular UCAs. http://iconvehicledynamics.com/shop...-toyota-tacoma-suspension-system-stage-4.html Here's the wheel tire combo... I'll post pics when she's all done.
Nice, very Nice Tom........ Sounds like you've got it all pegged, and figured out well. Your right on the mark with those Fox Kits, they do indeed rust, especially when the Driver uses his truck as a 4WD, un-like those ass-clowns, who lower Trucks.........which makes my stomach churn....... I think I mentioned, awhile back, how I watched this black dude pull up next to me, in a parking lot. A Hummer, with 24" Low-Profile Rims/tires, and other ridiculous Truck Bling, that makes no sense to waste the time or money on. Like Dingo fkn balls framing His rear window, and other bullshit you or I, would laugh at as having zero purpose(s)......... Please do put up Pics, when you can.......... What Tires did you end up with? I'm sure you went with a good Off-Road Trail and Road tire, that grabs, pulls in mud, yet is soft and easy on Freeways also..........in lieu of those "Monster Mudders" I so adore, yet are often impractical, esp on the pavement, where they don't belong, IMO........
Nitto Terrra Grappler G2, 285/70R17. 65k mileage guarantee...good all around All-Terrain. Beats out the Toyo and BFG...were highly recommended by all the guys at the off-road shops.
Perfect........the NT G2 is a great compound, (soft/grip, to length of use on Cement Highways) that allows maximum off road digging, gripping, to Freeway friendly Grapplers;
I took stock of what tires dealers were putting on their modded trucks, bottle dominated followed by bfg. I'll take a 65k vs 50k warranty and the same unit cost. With the adjustability of the icons and these tires, I've got full access to the SoCal deserts and dunes.
