I keep replaying the lunch scene in Brazil over and over in my head. Where Jonathan Pryce's mother is sporting the results of her latest lip stretching procedure as terrorist bombs go off. However, in this world of grandiose narcissism and callousness, the dry humor of the film is gone.....
"Bryce Williams" should be dumped into an ocean and forced to swim a mile to shore where the vicctims familes can pull his exhausted ass out of the water then beat the shit out of him.
That's amazing! And if you look at the comments on his twitter feed, the first responses were posted before she was "killed", too! Huge conspiracy for absolutely no good reason? Or, perhaps a simpler explanation, twitter adjusts time stamps to the user's time zone. Sheesh.
Not very hard to understand, really. Look at this comment he makes in that thread: Hmmm, yeah, very weird. Oh, wait, 9:34 am in Florida = 6:34 am on the west coast. The guy is a total dimwit.
On Facebook and Social Media, this is turning more into a gun control debate than it is a crazy homosexual black man who thought he was the victim of racial and sexual discrimination, probably hopped up listening to all the people on the internet, about Black lives matter, blah blah blah and the streets telling him about the evils of the white man and if there was no justice there would be no peace. This man who killed these newspersons was a SOCIAL JUSTICE WARRIOR. Social Justice Warriors are now killing people instead of just trying to get people fired, harassing them online, etc. OK, let's look at what's going around facebook now. OK. So look at the countries, all asian or anglo-saxon in nature. They convieniently forget to look at the other side of the chart (these are 2013 numbers). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_firearm-related_death_rate 2013 numbers are as follows: US = 3.55 Costa Rica = 4.6 Nicaragua = 4.9 Mexico = 10.0 South Africa = 17.0 Brazil = 18.1 Colombia = 27.1 Venezuela = 39.00 El Salvador = 39.9 Honduras = 64.8 Let's keep them borders open, homes! What's also interesting is that the suicides by firearm are DOUBLE the homicides by firearm per 100,000 people in the United States.
Anytime someone uses a gun to settle something it will result in a gun debate and their original message will be lost. I don't think it was convenient. We have more in common with Italy and Finland's lifestyle than we do Nicaragua and Honduras. Besides it says right at the bottom that the comparison is to other high income countries. Access to guns is only one part of the equation though, mental health treatment, poverty and education make up the rest.
Yeah, but Nicaragua and Honduras is Coming to America unregulated. The more we let in, the more we become those countries.
When someone says Cancer matters you don't say "well what about Parkinson's and Alzheimer's?". We know they all matter. Just like Black Power doesn't mean anything racist.
Man you're in rare form today. It's not racist at all to say "all lives matter". It's just a bit insensitive. Get your mind right.
check your privilege, bro https://storify.com/the_author_/why-all-lives-matter-is-an-inappropriate-response
It's actually quite true. But if anyone stands up to it they are called an asshole or racist. It was completely eye opening to me at ethnic studies classes at osu, where I was basically ridiculed and made to feel like shit all throughout class for being a white male. Funny thing is, I'm enough native american to get federally subsidized native american healthcare.
Whatever whitey! Accept that you should hate yourself and feel guilty for everything your ancestors did to the world!
A HUGE red bar makes a statement. But what if you do the math? 3.7 out of every 100,000 people is 0.0037% My GOD we make a huge deal over something that actually has a very small chance of actually impacting you. What are your odds of being hit by a drunk driver? What are your odds of getting cancer? What are your odds of choking on your next bite of food? Also, could we PLEASE stop calling everything a mass shooting? Two people died, three people were shot in total. That's not a MASS shooting. Are we going to start calling anything above 5 people a mega shooting? It's terribly sad that these people died, but the immediate fervor anytime there's a national story about a shooting is getting very old. People just repeat the same crap every time. "We need more gun legislation!" "We need more background checks!" Neither of those things would have prevented this from happening. If people are going to spend energy trying to stop people from being shot, then come up with an actual plan that might enact some change.
Let's just go ahead and compare that number to a few other possibilities that might take you out. So 3.7 out of 100,000 is 1 in 27,027. 1/27,027 compared to a 50% chance of developing cancer (as a man) in your lifetime, and a 1/4 chance that cancer will ultimately take you out. http://www.cancer.org/cancer/cancerbasics/lifetime-probability-of-developing-or-dying-from-cancer You have a 1/100 chance of taking yourself out intentionally. So you have a higher risk of deciding to off yourself than you do of someone else pulling the trigger. You have a 1/109 chance of dying to some kind of noxious substance. There's a 1/112 chance that you'll be killed in a car crash. This site actually puts your odds at 1/358 that you'll be assaulted by a firearm. So I guess that contradicts that other number http://www.nsc.org/learn/safety-knowledge/Pages/injury-facts-chart.aspx
Assaulted by a firearm could include self-inflicted both accidental or suicidal. It could include hunting accidents, gun-cleaning accidents and all sorts of other possibilities that greatly alter the stat from Killed with a gun by someone else. I'm not sure how either stat is produced, but I imagine they aren't comparable.
