Good thing illegals can't vote in the upcoming election. Oh wait, Obama fucked that all up and now there are loopholes where they can.

millions of Irish-euro immigrants were conscripted into the Union army to fight the south during the civil war..they became americans because they joined the army. they were white, though...hispanics don't have that going for them. Some of the folks who have come here are fleeing wars and are refugees but if you want to bundle them into the gang bangers that should be expelled, then that in and of itself is racial profiling. give them a mandatory 2 year service in the military and you've done more than any wall will do for legally assimilating them into the american system.

Going back to the original post, while I do not agree with everything he states here, at least he has a platform that has substance. Reagan tried to get a lot of this done and made a deal with the devil (congress) to get it done. Had to give amnesty on a one time basis.

His hard line on current illegals will cause an uproar with the liberal set that has made a cottage industry in providing sevices, so you will have to fight the public unions, who have at least as much power as any unions left.

That history lesson forgot to mention that they were "legal" immigrants. They obtained citizenship with military service (being naturalized). Mexican "legal" immigrants actually can do the same thing right now.

I don't think his platform has any semblance of substance. Whether liberal or conservative or apathetic, his platform is a disaster in the making. We need reforms, but not at the expense of democracy.

they were conscripted at the border...or harbor in their case..this country was built as it stands by immigrants. Making them legal residents or refusing them is another issue

Reform? We haven't had any reform for the past 20 years. Obviously the career politicians haven't stepped up to the plate

I'll be sure to have Brawndo toast to you the day of Trump's inauguration.

He looks pretty good for someone from 1868. "It says what we say it says." I'll definitely take his word for it. I promise.

My wife obtained her citizenship and went through the long process..during the civil war, they were conscripted fresh off the boat without any regard for knowledge of the constitution or laws of the country...that's not a lie mags..but you will prop up your view with any fuel you can google...I stand by my statement that this country was founded and defended by immigrants throughout history and most did not have to go through the process my wife did during the Civil War..supporting Trump is, in my view..spreading the biggest lie

You said Mexicans can't obtain citizenship like them because they weren't white. I clearly exposed you are dead wrong. We can move on now

I agree about the lack of responsible action by Congress over the last few decades...

Whatever the "skin color", your statement of only white immigrants had the ability to obtain citizenship through military service, which is flat out wrong

I did not say only white immigrants but I did say in regards to Irish and Euro immigrants, being white was a plus...you know why we fought the Civil War I'm guessing?

Riverman..to this day citizenship is granted to those that serve in one of the armed services. I have personally known people from Mexico, Australia, Poland, and several other surrounding EU shitholes, GB, Philippines, hmm, a couple of Northern African countries...anyone that wants to earn citizenship is more than welcomed to sign up.

But you were wrong. That wasn't the case because Irish back then were treated very unfairly and they were white.
