My apologies to Joe for questioning many of his decisions this year. When many of the decisions are being made by Cashman. In the course of 10 minutes I heard the following while watching the game.

"Sabathia has been throwing & could be back sooner than expected, and according to BRIAN CASHMAN when C.C. does return he'll go right back into the rotation".

"There has been talk that if Teixeira is out for any long period of time that A-Rod could possibly take a little time at first but according to general manager BRIAN CASHMAN that's not an option".

So apparently the REAL Yankee manager is Brian Cashman.

...and oh, Dombrowski says there will no longer be a "cold war" when making trades/deals and he'll gladly deal with Cashman...gee, I can't imagine why.

...go ahead Brian, bend over, you should be used to it by now.

From such a minute (mahy'noot) individual, his
decisions are of more minor significance.
A real douche bag of a gm.

Than again he may see the title of this thread & get pissed that it wasn't what he thought, or hoped.

Girardi has done a decent job given the moves cashman dictates and orchestrated.

    Gregorius for Shane Greene.
Granderson for Austin Jackson, Phil Coke, and Ian Kennedy (to Arizona).
Granderson's three full seasons with Yanks 2010-12 (2013, 61G, broken bone forearm)
Avg: 36 HR, 97 RBI, 16 SB, .843 OPS, good defense.

Somebody try and convince me Dombrowski received more FROM THE YANKS than Cashman got in return. I'm all ears...and eyes!

Gregorius - BA over .260, 4th best amoung qualified A.L. SS.
    4th best OBP, 6th best SLG%, 6th best OPS
4th best total assists, tied for 5th fewest errors, tied for 6th fldng% 1pt from 4th.
And....this is his FIRST full season as an everyday SS.

The Lowell trade in 1999 was certainly a winner for Dombrowski.....however, in Dombrowski's biggest trade winner in his head to head dealings with Cashman, Cashman had already acquired Brosius and I think the Yanks did okay (lol) with Brosius at 3b.......

Lilly for Weaver? Weaver stunk as a Yankee - and Lilly got bombed out of the A.L. with Oakland and Toronto - Weaver lead the league in Shutouts prior to the trade so it wasn't an outrageous thought to make a play to acquire him in July 2002......Dombrowski got Carlos Pena and Bonderman from Oakland....Pena had one pretty good season for Det before getting released and Bonderman was an absolute gas can with a 4.89 ERA and 1.40 WHIP with Deroit.

Dombrowski has been a good GM - but I don't see the dominance he has over Cashman in their personal one on one dealings. imho

Dominance? In head to head trades?
    A canard! :smiley-hvala::ghoti:

    • Traded Mike Lowell to Florida and got nothing good in return.
    • Gave up Ted Lilly for Jeff Weaver.
    • Traded Gary Sheffield to Detroit and got nothing good in return.
    • Traded Austin Jackson and Ian Kennedy for Curtis Granderson in a three-way deal. Detroit got Jackson and Max Scherzer in that deal. Granderson was good, but ultimately, the trade still favored Detroit.

Holy shit! All I keep hearing is Cashman said this, & Cashman decided that. Doesn't Girardi have anything to say about any of this? I mean Isn't he the manager. Can you imagine trying to do that crap to someone like Billy Martin.

You just know Martin would have been kicking Cashman's door in "Who's managing this fucking team me or you? I'll decide who plays & who doesn't".

It's like I said last week. The only thing that mattered to me is the Tigers beating the Yankees three times in the playoffs.

Fair enough - I guess if I want to play Cashman's advocate I should take a poke at Dombrowski by saying the idea is to win the World Series and he came up short with Detroit.
Nobody cared when the Yanks beat a team or two in the playoffs and lost a WS.

    How did I do?
