The GM owns the roster and its performance. Yes the mgr owns some of that performance, but he's a minority stakeholder compared to the GM.

There's no way another mgr does any better with the tools Cashman hands him....and we've seen it first hand with Torre and Girardi. 1996 to 2006...decade of the core4....4 rings. 2006 to 2015 cashman decade....1 ring. And that was due more to spending money and the new stadium than anything else. Cashman has been a disaster.

^^^this...the Cardinals would still be just as good with Girardi at the helm because of their roster...but would the Yanx be any better with Matheny as manger?... no.

As I placed in the post, sounds ridiculous but I wouldn't put anything past him (Cashman) I'd like to think that if Cashman were in my neighborhood I'd sic the dogs on him but I have too much respect for the canine species.

As good a sniffer as my dog has (Beagle) he'd probably find Cashman too repugnant to bite. Every time I think of Cashman though I like most Yankee fans get rabid. How the hell that man has held on to his job is beyond me. He must have something on the Steinbrenner tadpoles.

As usual comprehension is not your strong suit, read what I said again S L O W L Y so you'll understand. I'm sure after reading it several times you'll find that I did not specify A.L, or N.L. So that would mean MLB. Nor did I say 6-7 teams. I said (now pay attention) the worst of ANY team currently a dozen or more games above 500.

    Cardinals
    Royals
    Pirates
    Cubs
    Blue Jays
    Astros
    Mets
    Dodgers

I hope this wasn't to hard for you to follow.

Pasta - looks like you're getting the treatment:
( uhhh, no, it has no relevance at all...but if ithelps you to feel better by believing so, I'm happy for you. )

The old "voice of reason" routine with a pinch of convalescence mixed in.
Almost makes you believe you're never correct and he's never wrong....almost.

Fact of the matter is- the Yankees, for the better part of the season have been a good run scoring team hitting alot of HRs ( just like TORONTO and HOUSTON ) however, Girardi looks less "smart" when the offense sputters or when Betances and/or Miller struggle.

Oops.....I almost forgot.....he doesn't have alot to work with....a bunch of lemons.
Of course it's Cashman's fault Tex has a deep bone bruise from fouling a ball off his knee. You should know better- Everyone knew Headley was weak on defense throughout his career and please don't mention him leading the team batting .322 w//risp....the biggest most significant question coming into the season was replacing Jeter and the question so far has been answered with a big yes in Gregorius.
Young and Shreve have been meaningless mirages.....
    Repeat after me....all together now:
Girardi has a poor roster and Cashman is always wrong.

Turning a simple game of baseball into rocket science..

too the baseball historians and baseball forensic statiticians, get it through you thick skulls, cashman is a highly paid mouthpiece & girardi is a highly paid baby sitter ... Neither one makes the right or any real thoughtful decision

...but, but, but, you claimed that Girardi "is responsible for everything that happens on the field", remember?

...is Girardi simply a baby sitter or is he responsible for the teams' performance?...make up your freaking mind.

Now pay attention, I was responding to someone (post 78) else who mentioned "6-7" teams.
Okay, now that you made a boo boo from the get-go, lets proceed.
As I said - and you may find it uncomfortably accurate, the Yanks don't have to finish ahead of N.L. teams in the standings because for some strange reason, they play in another league.
My personal opinion, and it's all mine..... having a couple of N.L teams with a better regular season W-L record than the Yanks is not very high on the Yankee players' list.
The last time I checked, the Yanks are only required to win 4 out of 7 from a N.L. team in a final series called the World Series.

    Thanks Rick.

The Yanks are terrified, there's no way they can win a division with the Cards, Pirates, Mets, Dodgers and Cubs.

    Tough division.

Its the same old song with this guy,

"Hey guys if you haven't noticed the Yankees are in 1st place LOL"

"Hey guys the sky isn't falling the Yankees are 7 game up LOL"

"Hey guys the last time I looked the Yankees were still 4 games up LOL"

"Hey guys pay attention, the Yankees lead the east by 2 full games LOL"

"Hey guys not to worry the Yankees are only a game & a half out of 1st place LOL"

    And so-on & so on, & so on. :blahblah::blahblah::blahblah::blahblah::blahblah::blahblah::blahblah:.
