If Lamar Odom didn't play like that, the Lakers would never have gone 4-0 and you know it...

I guess that's just the price you'll have to pay for getting a better team. At least they have a chance to make some noise in the playoffs this year but I don't think Kobe will win, he might though. No one has been overly impressive thus far.

Kobe isn't the top choice right now. Like Valo said, his team did great without him and his stats haven't been impressive at all. Maybe when he's at "100%" he will win. I'd take Dirk, LeBron and Nash ahead of him at this point. Duncan is averaging a double-double with 3.4 assists and 2 blocks and his team has been doing better than LA so he could be considered.

Well that's what you think but if Nash does better than the previous two years I think they will give it to him. I'm not sure he could keep up these numbers for the whole season but as of right now he would win it. Dirk is shooting at a higher percentage, just playing less minutes. He does have more rebounds though and a few more assists. He's pretty much doing what he was last season. Just 3 minutes and one 3-pointer away from having a slightly better season stats-wise. His team is also the best in the league right now. LeBron is putting up slightly better numbers than Kobe even in an off-year and his team has obviously needed him more than the Lakers have needed Kobe so far. So if the season ended today Kobe would not win it. I think by the end of the season though, Kobe will be right there at the top and if LeBron doesn't improve like Kobe will once he's healthy and the Heat don't improve their record then Bryant will win it at the end of the season. Not right now though. He is 4th on my list at the moment.

Everyone is adding in the "threepeat" factor way too much that Nash is starting to get underrated in MVP conversation.

Kobe could be averaginf 32 ppg right now, but he's decided to pass the ball more since the Laker's are more talented now.

Kobe isn't averaging 1 more assist than last year and his defense has been nothing to brag about this year. He's been on the same level as LeBron. But like I said, when he's at 100% he'll be in a position to take it. Okay just keep saying Dirk's not having the same year...

He's passing the ball alot more, and looking to get others involved instead of taking a crap load of off-balanced bad shots...His defense is always good, so I don't know how you could really say that.

I posted tons of games just in the start of the season right now were players had great games against him. Almost every time he has defended anyone good they have had over 20 points with a pretty good FG% and he doesn't get that many steals or blocks either.

That isnt a good way of determining defense. He wouldn't have made All-Defensive first team if he couldn't play D.

He hasn't been playing good enough to win it right now and he's not as valuable to his team right now as the rest of the guys I listed. And I said once he's at 100% and starts playing better like he can, then he will be worthy of winning MVP.
