I have a coworker who is a complete pain in the ass... lately, he's become even more vague, secretive, and cryptic than ever before...

    Case in point...

Why expend so much more energy being vague & secretive rather than answering a specific question? How did so & so go? CoworkerA: "'CoworkerB' would be a better person to ask", I then go and ask CoworkerB, CoworkerB's response: "fine".......... Seriously? What the hell man.. you were there, I wasn't because of a meeting I needed to attend and you said you'd be ok... why be vague and cryptic...

Some people just aren't happy unless they've either got something to bitch about all the damn time, or- create their own misery, then try to give put the monkey (rather gorilla) on your back.......

an obvious lack of Team Work, in the workplace.

    -Fundamentals
    -Teamwork
-Self-Discipline (to endlessly execute the Fundamentals, Teamwork)

these are the 3 things, Lee Iaccoca and Vince Lombardi, agreed upon, over dinner, which are the 3 principles that make for a winning Team or Organization........

I used these 3 principles, both when Coaching Little League/American Legion baseball; as well as in Mgmt on the B2 Program. These 3 simple elements/principles, encompass all aspects of a SUCCESSFUL - Team or Company......otherwise, one is doomed......to fail, and/or never learn from one's mistakes of the past, which will repeat themselves endlessly, otherwise...

    and......

Using this 3 element approach, led to several un-defeated yrs of baseball at all levels, and allowed for extreme success in and at work, in all Departments..........

I even created a Curriculum for teaching this approach to work, and damn it, it worked miraculously.......

    best of luck Hammer.......

Passive aggressive personality, very common in highly matrixed organizations Hammer. I abhor secrets when colleagues are all supposed to be on the same time. But highly matrixed organizations like to compartmentalize information as a mechanism to ensure a less vertical structure.

When non managers start to do this they are either mimicking what they think they need to get ahead, or are disgruntled with a particular person(s).... Jealously, whatever.

My approaching is to use the technique of the "crucial conversation".... Yesterday I asked you a direct question related to X and you deflected from answering? I'm concerned that you misunderstood my intent...state your intent yadda yadda yadda. Let the PIA know you were genuinely interested in how the coworker did but had not yet had the opportunity to discuss directly. You asked him because he was there and you value his impressions....

I have eliminated almost all passive aggressive be with this approach....except for 1 project mgr that still holds a grudge because I have held her to task for several project failures she managed. But she has gotten a free pass due to diversity metrics (asian female).

Get into investment banking. You can then flush the entire economy down the toilet and then come out smelling like roses.

This looks good, there was a day I'd not only finish reading it, but supply it to employees, also....

Nothing better than a workshop/seminar to get to the bottom of higher ongoing education, especially when it comes to dealing with peeps,

    and -

how to quickly identify both primary and secondary attributes, ie, Meyers-Briggs, Kiersey

I work for a big company, but I highly doubt they'd approve this (2-day traing class) & can't see myself spending my few vacation days on it. Might check out the book though!

So did Northrop........send ya' down to Century City/Beverly Hills, put ya' up at the J.W. Marriott, all expenses paid, with Catering 2nd to none, all free.................

It blew my mind, 1st time I went down to Corporate, and hit the can, where they had shoe shiners***, no shit, not the buffing machines, but a Concierge/ Garçon; holding wet hot towels, and a dry one. He'd offer a shoe shine for free, (tips), or ya' could leave your Cowboy Boots at the Marriott and get 'em polished nightly, ...........NTM- the Limo Rides, were 2nd to none, (Nothing like downing a stiff drink in only 4 blocks, from the Corp Bldg, to the Hotel)........:drinkapint::cowboy:

***What a fkd up job, to stand in a shitter, where the smell had to be horrid at times, to shine shoes, shine yo own shoes mistuh........!
