<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Gilbert Arenas has been putting up a lot of points this season and feels that his numbers compare well to Kobe Bryant's."I'm glad what I'm doing is on national television so they can finally see what I did in the past; my 29 [points per game last season]is not a fluke. What I did in the playoffs is not a fluke. What I've done the last five years is not a fluke," Arenas said. "Everybody says, 'Oh, he's not better than this person, he's not better than that person.' But if you go year by year, number-wise, what's the difference between me and Kobe? He had Shaq. He got three rings. Other than that, my numbers are blowing his out of the water the first six years in the league.</div>http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/439...t_of_the_water/Come on Arenas, Don't get too cocky. You're having a monster year but you are not better than Kobe Bryant.

Arenas self-assesses. ?I personally feel like, pound-for-pound, as far as the best offensive player all-around, who can you say is better than me? People say that once I get past half court I have no conscience. And you know what? They?re right. I feel comfortable taking any shot past half court</div>

Plain and simple.</div>agreed. gilbert would've won just as many titles with Shaq. Probably more because he's shown that he can have other scorers (Butler, Jaminson, Hughes) on his team and still be happy and co-exist with teamates.
Butler and Jamison average nearly 20 points, and thats with Gilbert and his 30 a game. If Gil had Shaq, this talk would be over, b/c everyone on this board uses TEAM accomplishments to compare two players.
Yeah his numbers are great but he cant DEFEND......... thats what it comes down to.. But he just wants some respect

Kobe is the much better defender, better rebounder, shoots a higher percentage. The only think Arenas does better than Kobe This Season is score. He may rack up one more assist per game but that's his job, He's the point guard.Kobe Bryant's team has the better record and he has a worse supporting cast.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>agreed. gilbert would've won just as many titles with Shaq. Arenas can co-exist with his teammates, Good for him. So can Kobe Bryant. He has proved that by winning 3 NBA titles.I'm not sure if you know this or not, But Gilbert Arenas only had ONE winning season in his entire career. The one time he had a winning season he was only 2 games over .500. 1 winning season in 6 years, Not good.
This is why I cannot stand Gilbert Arenas...just shut the F*ck up already and win something in your career before you start mentioning Kobe, give me a break.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>And there it is again, comparing two people with team accomplishments.</div>"Play for the name on the FRONT of the jersey, Not the BACK"Winning games is all that matters, You can score 50 points per game but if you're not a winner then it means nothing. You don't like talking about team accomplishments so let me give you some individual ones.Career scoring: Kobe Bryant 24.0, Gilbert Arenas 22.3.Career rebounding: Kobe Bryant 5.1, Gilbert Arenas 4.2Career passing: Gilbert Arenas 5.5, Kobe Bryant 4.5Career FG%: Kobe Bryant 45%, Gilbert Arenas 43%Kobe Bryant- 2nd most points ever in an NBA game, Scored 62 points in 3 quarters, Record for most 3 point field goals in NBA history. Should I go on?
That PPG stat is skewed, he didn't start when he first started out on the Warriors. Kobe is taller, he SHOULD get more rebounds.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Dmoney @ Dec 26 2006, 01:48 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Jason Kidd is 6ft4 or something and he avg's a lot of rebounds and he's not as tall as kobe.</div>Finally someone with a good point, this was the entire reason I said the "taller than" thing. Arenas doesn't rebound that well, no. I'll admit that. But Arenas said he was better offensively than Kobe, not that he was a better rebounder, or better defender.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>That PPG stat is skewed, he didn't start when he first started out on the Warriors. Kobe Bryant only started 7 games in his first 2 years in the league. Gilbert Arenas started 112 games his first 2 seasons, Kobe started 7. You do the math on that one. Gilbert Arenas played more career minutes per game than Kobe Bryant did also.As for the rebound situation, The same can be said for Arena's assist numbers. He SHOULD average more assists considering he is a point guard.
just cause he drop 60 on kobe he thinks hes the best. And im sure only 15 of those was really ON kobeYou didnt see houston sayin he was better when he drop 50 back 2 back on kobe

Besides Wiz are running towards 46+ wins this year with how we've been playing recently. And BCB stfu he just wants respect. Finally, there is one thing you guys need to realize GIL ISNT EVEN IN HIS PRIME THIS IS HIS 6TH YEAR AND HE'S ONLY 24 YEARS OLD.
What he is saying is true but what kind of ignorant F*ck would read that and say oh... Arenas is better than Kobe...uh uh... LMAO Arenas didn't score 81 points in a single game. Arenas didn't outscore a team at least 4 times in a quarter and have 60 in 3 quarters like Kobe. Arenas didn't have 30 points in a quarter against the Jazz. Arenas has a few good games and all of a sudden he is the King of the NBA and is better than Kobe...you people need to stop hating Kobe and realize that no1 is a better player than him. You can say all you want that if Arenas was in Kobe's shoes with shaq the outcome would be the same..but you know what, THEY WERENT! It didn't happen that way. Therefore, if you compare the two players overall Kobe is generally better than Arenas in every aspect of the game. Kobe is having a slow season because of injuries that has cost the team. You can say all you want that Arenas is doing a great job co-existing with Butler and Jamison who are also scoring well. But the fact of the matter is that the Lakers are still a better team with Kobe. The Wizards have a better team with Arenas and we still have a better record! Not to mention that the Lakers are in the Western Conference. Team Records:Lakers 18-10 Wizards 15-12. Period. As players Kobe is the better Scorer. Rebounder.Passer. and Arenas is the point guard. The Wizards have better role players and scorers and look at the two records of the teams.

Besides Kobe when he accomplished 82 points and 60 in 3 quarters was hte only one on his team scoring, he was a complete ball hog. Gil passes, when you watch a wizards game you notice specifically after he brings it up court he always gives it up first. I'm not saying that Kobe is better than Arenas and I don't think Arenas is either, he thinks kobe is the best in the NBA. Gil just wants to be considered ELITE. Besides lakers didnt start 4-9 by the end of the season the Wizards and Lakers records will be close. Kobe passes this year, I'm not saying he doesn't but he hasnt had any amazing accomplishemjents THIS YEAR.
