The military isn't socialist. I support as small a military as possible. Preferably only something like a national guard. However, if you think the military is socialist and you want socialism, doesn't that mean you want a militaristic society? Ick.
The military is not a democratic institution, if you ever served you'd know the difference. You waive most of your rights when you sign up. I was taken to court for refusing to throw polluting debris in the ocean on a garbage detail. If someone tells you to do something right or wrong..you are required to do it or face the consequences. You cannot walk away from your job or you will go to prison.
I'm in agreement with just having a National Guard (well regulated militia). That's JUST like Switzerland. I was really just trying to paint either of you into a corner regarding socialism. The United States military is the largest and most funded socialist program in the world. It operates thanks to our taxpayer dollars and protects the country as a whole. From the richest citizens to the homeless who sleep under the bridge. We are all protected by our military whether we pay taxes or not. This is complete socialism.
