Big come from behind win for Yanks with two of the kids hitting HRs including the game winner by The Bird Man along with Murphy and Arod. For some reason the thought crossed my mind of the link from Murderers Row, the Mantle/Ford teams to Jeter and the last Yankee great WS teams being broken to any possible future Yankee Championships with the next wave of homegrown Yankees in Bird and Murphy and it was through Phil (Scooter) Rizzuto. The Scooter actually called Jeter's first homerun. Rizzuto played with The Mick and Ford,...and DiMaggio who played with Gehrig who played with Ruth and Murderers Row. Sounds silly? Maybe so.....I think not. Bird never got the chance to play with Jeter but then I remembered Murphy HAS played with Jeter- last year which will continue the link. Murphy is now a teammate with Bird on the Yanks and Bird (and/or Murphy) in all likelihood will go on to play alongside any of the next young players coming up in the next 1-3 years. The Link will continue and won't be broken unless Bird and/or Murphy and/or the next young Yankee players fail to play on a Yankee Championship team in their careers. Rizzuto may have been "only" an announcer to some calling Jeter's HR, but he was actually more to long time Yankee fans.
