No rest for the wicked, if I were Joe I'd use Warren over anyone as a spot starter. Yankees need to sweep Baltimore and hope they can get a split with Toronto. Boston got lucky against Toronto today, I would not count on the to last.
So, I guess we are lucky to have CC coming back. And as I typed that, I am angry as hell with an organization that is so arrogant to what the team really needs to do to assist this group in going deep into the playoffs. So healthy, knock on wood, starting pitchers currently on roster. Severino, Pineda (?), Tanaka (?) Nova (?) CC (?) Warren, and the rookie. Wow, in the words of the famous Don Meredith in a response to Howard Cosell one night. "If ifs and buts were canned with nuts, what a merry little Christmas it would be"
Lol, Dandy Don Meredith- Cleveland Browns had a receiver named Fair Hooker - during a game his name came up and moments later Meredith says: "Fair Hooker,...I never met a fair hooker". I would go with Warren or Mitchell in place of Eovaldi but I'm afraid I now know why they brought Gas Can Capuano back.
Have to agree, moving Warren to the pen was a pretty bad decision given the extra rest they were giving Tanaka and what CC could have used as well.
I think we had mentioned a veteran arm would've been the ideal move considering the fragile nature of this staff. And no folks Crapuano isn't the answer.
...yup, there were several "options", plus I wanted a 2Bman too (Zobrist/Prado...and don't be diss'n Cappy...he was part of the plan.
Haven't we been down this road before concerning acquiring a SP "pitcher" at the deadline? Yanks obviously didn't believe it was worth giving up anything in a deal for a mediocre "veteran" SP pitcher and wasn't an upgrade over in house options and I'm thinking Warren or Mitchell - not Capuano. We'll see what happens. ????
The real problem all year is the fragility of this pitching staff and the fact that they don't give innings which puts a constant strain on the bullpen. Now you have to fill in with a bullpen piece with the hope that not only does another starter not go down but that they can actually start preserving this bullpen. You can see it with Betances and Miller as clear as day. They're getting tired and Warren has been a valuable piece in the pen. You take him out again to start I think it does more harm then perhaps having Mitchell start. The bottom line is that in some of these starts they need to get at least 7 innings out of these guys. You cannot constantly we into the pen in the fifth and sixth inning all the way down the line here.
It's a downward spiral which could have potentially been avoided with an adequate GM... but alas, we don't have one
Not good at all......... this Team is doomed, yes, I said it, gloom and doom...... CC should wake up and see His career is ovah- if anything, the Yanx can take some solace in Seve, Bird, and hopefully soon Judge. Warren IMO, should of been put in the Starting role along time ago........but I don't make the lineup card, Hell, not sure anymore they're letting Joe either....... sounds like Trashman is at the drivers wheel, (after taking it from Joe forcibly)....... now that's downright frightening.....
...I agree about Warren...a little late now to recondition him for a starting role...but he should have never been removed from the rotation in the first place.
Dam cashman for not taking his own money and put it in the Yankees account to buy a vet pitcher for the PS, and dam long a lifetime bat avg 240 hitter for not turning every Yankee hitter into Ted Williams, Dam them all!!!! Take your stinking dirty hands off me, you dam stinking ape!
