Honestly, there are shitheads everywhere. There were shitheads when I lived in NYC, there were plenty when I lived in Portland, there were a lot in Marin county in NorCal and there are enough in the San Diego area.

There is not that much difference between people in Oregon and people in SoCal, except from the tan and the ability to drive like you are under 80.

 

There's a HUGE difference between socal people and oregon people. Sure, there might not be much difference between some assholes in a nice Lake Oswego Neighborhood and some rich orange county suburb, but overall, Californians are selfish assholes. Oregonians are WAY nicer.

 

I have a plan.

Move to the Pearl, be a total asshole for a few years. Complain how Oregonians are slow and everything is boring.
A few years later I'll complain about how the Pearl district is over-run with assholes from California and everything is corporate.
Move Eastside for a year or two and tell my neighbors that it was to get away from the commercialization, gentrification and Californians moving in.
Then move somewhere to the burbs in NW/SW Portland/Lake Oswego/West Linn and use crappy schools and seedy characters everywhere on the Eastside as my excuse.
Then move to Orange County or San Diego, complaining how Oregon is boring as fuck and there's no culture or anything to do and its raining all the time and depressing.

As I recall, nearly everyone in Kingston, Poughkeepsie, or Binghamton New York drove cars. Not sure about Albany, never been there.

Californians moving to Oregon is just white flight.

My theory on this is as follows:

1. White Californians move to Oregon to get away from the Mexicans. The prevailing thought is schools and communities have gone to shit, people can't speak english, everything is turning 3rd world, etc.

2. Those that do move to Oregon are priced out of California's wealthier areas where Mexicans are priced out. So they go to Oregon to get away from Mexicans and they can buy a house on a middle class income salary.

3. The type of person that would move out of state to get away from Mexicans would be kind of a dick or at a minimum, a douchebag.

4. So these dicks/douchebags move to Oregon and say they are from California and are annoying, and people assume all Californians are like this (partially true still).

The average Oregonian is far more passive aggressive than the average Californian.

Californians are in a constant race to earn more money to buy more stuff.
Oregonians are in a constant war to stop as much progress as possible, and will get in anyone’s way that is trying to pass them up.

Californians believe being unequal is a form of freedom that is necessary to escape slavery.
Oregonians would rather be equal in slavery than unequal in freedom.
