^David Stern missed that train in the 90's imo. Now players think they deserve billions of dollars.

I know when I travel to the east coast, the time zone difference is a bitch. I'm trying to sleep at 5PM my time and waking up at 3AM to be on their schedule.

First, the Blazers should have been declared the NW division champions every season since the Sonics moved to OK. The Blazers are the only true NW team. The division concept has been distorted to the point of being faulty.

Second, the change to seed the Conference playoffs by record is needed by looking into the future, not the past. A case can be made that the Pacific and SW divisions are stronger this season than last, and the NW division is weaker. The owners have a right to be concerned about the shift in power teams. The talent between the divisions is not balanced.

The only NW division team projected to be above .500 this season is the Thunder, and that is if they stay healthy. It is possible (put not probable) that the next NW division champion wins less than 40 games, and would have been the #4 seed in the conference playoffs.

So what? When conferences are so unbalanced, the bad conference gets the benefit of playing weaker competition AND getting into the playoffs with below .500 records. At least this would even that out in one respect. They could still slant the scheduling so that teams play more often closer to home.
