...I'm hoping he does not let the YS right field sirens get in his ear and become too homer happy...I've seen him go to the opposite field and I think he can be a good all around hitter...(.300+ BA with some pop...800+ OPS or so)
Come on Jacoby this is a big spot for you to get out of this funk. Can knock out the starter this inning.
don't know if i agree with that call, have lead, middle of game, don't even know if that was called from dugout
I don't know if I would've bunted Ellsbury in that spot. I know he's in a horrid slump but the ninth place hitter was just walked. I'd take the Earl Weaver approach and not hand him a free out.
It's going to be a long week, leading up to the Mets, then Jays on Friday, but this team should be able to hand the Mets a loss, hopefully 2 of 3..... as for the Jays, I don't know what to say, other than break out the buckshot......!
...I agree...It may have been Earl who said "If you bunt and are playing for one run, that will likely be all you get". (paraphrasing)
In most cases I would agree but with the way Ellsbury has been slumping, sacrificing the runners over beats the hell out of a weak pop up or worse yet a possible DP.
...I dunno, kinda hard to double up Ells or Gardner....Ellsbury isn't going to break out of his funk by bunting...just my 2 cents. ...he'll come around...he's too good of a player.
