Every once in a while I'll turn on a Mariners game and I'll try to get into it. Sometimes I can but only for a short time. It just has a hard time holding my attention for TV sport watching.
No. I watch the NBA, NFL, NHL, MLS, college football, college basketball throughout the year, but never any baseball.
I get interested in pockets (first month, all star time, last month/playoffs). If the mariners were good id probably watch more baseball but it's just not a sport you can realistically pay 100% attention to. I think baseballs big problem is you never really get to know who is gonna be good (unless you're a hardcore fan), it just feels so random. NFL and NBA have big college TV deals where we get a general idea where players are at, baseball we see tiny bits and then we hear about so and so hitting or pitching well in whatever minor league system they're at.
No, not interested in watching a bunch of grown men spit and scratch themselves for hours. I like to play the game, so I can scratch myself in public, but can’t stand to watch others do it.
I've been a SF Giants fan most of my life and at my age, I like baseball and "get it" way better than I did as a kid. And let's face it, Portland hasn't had a championship in almost 40 years. Watching the Giants win 3 of the last 5 World Series has been almost as huge (to me) as if the Blazers had won another championship. And thank God for that. I've been to a World Series victory parade, so baseball been berry, berry good to me. So yes, I like watching and listening to baseball. And it fills the void during this time of year when we have nothing better to talk about than Kanye for president....
Growing up I was a baseball player, played through high school. My uncle pitched in the majors for 12 years. Came from a baseball loving family. As an adult, I have no patience for it unless its the playoffs. Too long, not enough constant action. Basketball is my fav, followed closely by football.
Twice a week I take care of a disabled man who's a baseball fanatic. He watches about every game there is to watch so I've watched a lot of Mariners games for the last couple of months..I wish they'd keep that young catcher Barro and dump Sucre...Sucre bats like 134, doesn't have an arm, doesn't get in front of wild pitches..I don't get how he's the starting catcher. Catcher's are usually decent offensive threats...he sucks.
I love baseball but they play too many games and you have to know when to shut off the clunkers or it'll bore you. I like the playoffs more than the regular season for that reason. I would like it more if pitchers stopped intentionally walking cleanup hitters and took the challenge to pitch to them.
Exactly. Baseball is for the disabled or the retired. Too many games. Too many afternoon games. Sucre is the catcher because he has 'chemistry' with certain pitchers. Aka Felix. I remember back in the day Javier Lopez was a damn good hitting catcher and fielding catcher for the Braves, but whenever Maddux or Glavine were on the mound they wanted some scrub who I cant remember his name behind the plate. The guy was awful. But how are you going to argue with a HOF pitcher.
I was really impressed with Barro, the rookie call up catcher and he played his first game last week. Caught a great game. I just don't see Sucre as having even half the skills a great catcher needs to have.
Baseball is so Damn boring. Basketball, football, and mma are the only sports I like. I do get into college baseball too. Mostly because I was attending osu when they win back to back championships. Suck that duck fuckers
