http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/1...-incarcerationmichael-vick-mass-incarceration I saw and read this....Rick will pop in 3,2,1....
Interesting article. Those who successfully rehabilitate, and go on to lead productive lives, realizing the error of their previous ways, often are over looked, when they succeed in turning their lives around. Perhaps because of the Majority of released Felons, who go on to create another Felony, or multiple Felonies. More importantly, these guys (noted in story) took the proper actions to help turn troubled youths around, or provide their energies towards a cause to becoming the most out spoken, as living examples of one who did stupid things, and paid dearly for their errors. Hoping they touch one kid, to not join a gang, or exit one. To Outreach Programs for inner city kids, of which they themselves came from. It is sad, when one's fk up is what permanently defines them, due to ignorance of others, not versed enough to judge those like Vick. I'd not give a pass to Pac Man Jones tho'. I despise the wannabe gangster idiot fk. His beating on Amari Cooper IMO revealed Pac Man should probably or will be playing on the Prison Playground; once again. No more different than remembering the once NL Batting Champion, for letting a ground ball go through his legs, in Game 7 of the 86 Series? I never blamed that miscue on Buckner, his knees were so bad, Grady Little mega fkd up by not putting in a defensive replacement for Bill, especially in late innings.
Vick didn't just make a mistake, he perpetuated ongoing abuses to animals for pleasure. That's who he is....he'd still be doing it if he wasn't caught. With few exceptions, people do not change.
As you said Tom, these guys aren't sorry for what they did, they're sorry they got caught plain & simple.
Fighting dogs and the training, abusing and killing them are serious defects in a human being. Sorry there is no rehabbing this evil. Vick deserves equal treatment and he knows prison was getting off light.
...I'm a dog lover too, but considering the prison time and what it cost him, I don't see how he got off light.
I think what bothered many people Ron is that he went from killing dogs to going back to make millions.
...not really...he's still paying off debts,...hell, when he did come back he even eventually had to pay back part of his $27 Mil signing bonus to the Falcons...not to mention massive legal fees. ...don't get me wrong, what he did was galactically stupid and criminal...but I don't think he got of easy, not at all. ...personally, I would not want him on my team...the Raiders...yeah, yeah, I know.
Anything short of his life/freedom was getting off light. Regarding the NFL he should have gotten a lifetime ban.
At least Tom, I mean look at the owner of the SanDiego Clippers who got a lifetime ban & was forced to sell his team for making racist remarks while Vick is still entitled to do the thing he loves. Sorry but there's seriously something wrong with that picture.
It's the NFL.....fight dogs, punch your girl in the face, beat your child with a switch, and cheat your way to SB championships. Apparently they draw the line at murder and bounty tackling.
He got off light for the extent of his crimes, in some states he would have spent a lot more time prison. You can have your opinion and I have mine. But I'm not dimissing your opinion and characterizing it in a negative (eg. utterly rediculous).
Well he wasn't in a different state... different states have different statutes and different penalties... sorry but that's just the way it is... and yes you do have your opinion and I have mine and it's my opinion that suggesting the death penalty or life in prison for killing a fucking dog is utterly ridiculous.
is that a bunch of dog's having an Orgy or a slanderous dog...? I agree, Life in Prison for Dog Fighting; is fkng ridiculous, regardless of what backwards state one lives in....... We had Our Scottish Terrier and German Shepherd Kennel for 35 Yrs, before we got out. I highly disdain dog fights, yet, I'd not as a Judge, give anyone more than 5 hard years, or 10, reduced to 5, no more, no Life, as much as I love Canines, nopers, no life sentences........
