    Iraq?

    WTF.

    Non sequitur at best.

Things don't get better if you do nothing, or keep doing what demonstrably isn't working.

How is it a non sequitur? My point is that our government unilaterally decided to act. They rushed in without getting all the facts or considering the long term effects of their actions. We went in with the idea that we were going to improve people's lives. We spent 1.7 trillion in Iraq. Is that place any better?

You just want to throw a bunch of money at the problem and let the chips fall where they may.

I didn't say "do nothing." I said put that money into infrastructure. Put it into education. Put it in places that actually better peoples lives long term. Our education system is abysmal. Our roads are falling apart. There's an extreme divide between the poor and the rich, and it's growing.

Hey, if we want to talk fairy tales and throw out ideas of things that are never going to happen...how about this. I'd say the few slave owner families you can find pay EVERYONE reparations. If those evil fuckers hadn't owned people there might have been more innovation needed for society to progress.

Therefore, I might be fixing flying cars today instead of regular cars.

4k tv? Pfft!!!! We'd have implants in our skulls so everything looked real. I'd be banging 20 year old Pamela Anderson any night I want and it would seem 100 percent real.

Back to the absurd 6 or 14 trillion, let's make it 50 trillion since we can just print as much monopoly money as we want anyway. Sure, we'll be burning it to stay warm but who gives a shit?

Obama printed about $4T and borrowed another $8T.

    Clearly we had the opportunity.

I'm all for spending more money here, in our cities and parks and waters than maintaining rockpiles in Korea and Afghanistan...I want infrastructure reform and if that includes rebuilding Detroit..I'm all for it

And Asians make even more. Was it from the Japanese reparations?

It is unfortunate that this bank failed. They did a lot of real good.

    http://articles.chicagotribune.com/...shorebank-20100820_1_fdic-assets-david-vitale

Still, ShoreBank's failure is seen as a setback for community banking, and some people familiar with its operations say they don't expect that business model to continue. From its beginning in 1973, ShoreBank's mission was to revitalize declining, mostly black Chicago neighborhoods. Redlining and other discriminatory practices had taken a toll on communities such as South Shore, and the bank set out to prove that reinvestment could help revitalize communities. That strategy worked for a long while.

But then the recession claimed many of its borrowers' jobs, which meant they couldn't keep up payments on their mortgages and loans. Until the recession, ShoreBank had been profitable, its officials have said.

Community banking. That's the kind of thing reparations would make really vital. Even if only 30% manage to keep their money.

Asian culture changed my whole mindset about family banking and investment..family is a support system and labor pool in most cases. The elders are cared for, the children are cared for and mom and dad work hard to add to the kitty. Grandparents handle kid education, kids handle parents needs. Everybody saves money.

No fukking way. I meant flying cars, not airplanes. Besides, I couldn't sleep at night if I were an airline mechanic. Go home and find a bolt in your pocket when it shouldn't be.

I know they probably have double and triple checks but still.

Glad you mentioned him. Use the whole 6 trillion to replace his legs. Bionics aren't immune to inflation.

No, because the Japanese make a small amount of the Asian Americans here. But whatever makes you sleep at night

I think those reparations made people whole, but the damages were puny in duration and scale compared to slavery and Jim Crow.

Damages were puny?. These people were Americans living in American and forced to be quarantined.

Keep on downplaying a terrible time in American history. There is no need for a comparison, both are terrible.

IN COMPARISON. One lasted ~5 years, the other ~400 years.

    I'm not an FDR fan.
