Those guys are all negatives. Connaughton, Pressey, and Montero will all have a more positive impact than those three had!

Or just realistic. Who of those players do you think has a chance of being the go to guy down the stretch in a tight game?

Who did we have before that could be a go to guy down the stretch? Dame, LA, and...role players.

Now we have Dame, and a bunch of unknowns. That's the key word. "UNKNOWN". As in, we don't know what they can or cannot do in crunch time.

You ask me, "How do I know" if any of these guys can close. I ask you, how do you KNOW they can't?

    That's the point--you don't.

I'll assume this is directed at me. To which I'll reply: I've seen two seasons of Wright, I don't know how many seasons of Blake, and a 1/3rd of a season from Afflalo. It's more than enough to know that we're better off without them. I don't need to know anything about their replacements.

(And yes, my opinion may be laced with hyperbole, but I also wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it also ends up being true. Those 3 were garbage. Afflalo might be an okay NBA player, but the other two should be playing in China...or at home on their PS4.)

I'd rather have the ball in Henderson OR CJ's hands at the end of the game, than in LMA's hands. Putting the ball in the hands of someone who can't dribble and can't pass (and isn't a very good shooter) is a terrible idea when the game is on the line. CJ and Henderson both have some ability to score or pass off the dribble.

I like that we have guys that play above the rim and get those second chance put backs. We haven't had the alley oop since Dre..Aminu had a great playoff series for Dallas.

True. I'm not a gambling man whatsoever, but I would say we don't have great odds with this bunch. Am I the only one around here that thought LA,Dame,Wes and Nic were a great squad? Pic n roll with one of the best PGs in the game and the best pick n pop PF. With two good 3 pt shooters on the wings when the D collapsed? I really feel strongly after a few games of seeing how the opposing teams guard and force the ball out of Dame's hands, you guys will see what is missing.

It was a great combo, no doubt. They had great synergy. However, we still have that great PG, only now with a center who sets better picks, a PF who is actually a better shooter, and wings who are more athletic and much better at attacking the rim. You're so focused on what we've lost that you're completely ignoring what we've gained.

You will have to remind me real quick who our new PF is who is a better shooter than LaMarcus Aldridge....... As far as me acknowledging what we gained. I've said before, I think we acquired some good assets, and quality 6 thru 11 type roster guys. Not NBA starter level guys. Thus my prediction of 20 wins.

I'd venture to say that Leonard is a better, more accurate shooter than Aldridge from every range. We'll find out this season whether that remains the case as his attempts increase, but I believe it will.

I get that. I'm talking about the projected starters. I'm certainly not calling for another 50-win season, but there's too much talent for this to be the worst Blazer team in 45 years.

I'm sorry, but I'm completely blown away that you would think Meyers is a better shooter than LA. I know everybody is mad he left, but how quickly we forget. LA is considered arguably one of the BEST midrange shooter in the ENTIRE NBA and you think our guy Meyers is better?

It looks good when it goes in (we, as fans, naturally remember a lot more of the makes than misses) but statistically that is not close to true. That shot was very inefficient for him. He was far better off attacking the basket.

But regardless of how I've felt about teams, I've always been pretty realistic.

you can't possibly think that LMA is anywhere close to "one of the best midrange shooters in the NBA", can you?

call me crazy, but maybe one of the guys who is wide-open because his defender is triple-teaming Dame?
