I don't know about you but I would of shipped Mateo to San Diego for Craig Kimbrel. It would have made a big difference. Combined with Didi's improved play, I think it was a no brainer. How about yours?
I think one of the biggest needs was some help in middle relief. Too many minor league gas cans which put games out of reach.
Heard the Yes Braoadcast team commenting on Cashmans attitude, team will make the playoffs and that is the ticket. Can't believe that as long as that dumb ass has been GM that it has registered that being a division winner is the best way to get there. I'd have to agree on Kimbrel given the diminished performance of the starters, the British Petroleum Pen, and recent struggles of Dellin, Wilson, and Miller.
I bet Trashman epitomized = "that deer in the headlights look" when he said it too......or maybe more like the deer after the bump in the road.......
Its already been mentioned by Yankee brass that the have no intent on breaking the bank for any of the big FAs (Price, Zeinke) So I'm guess that we're going to see pretty much the same team next season.
The very reason, I despise 10 year, or long term Contracts, 20-30 Million $$$ contracts over a decade. I'll go to my deathbed, as a staunch supporter of a "Pay For Performance" based Contracts, even when these type of Contracts, should be shoved down the throats of the MLBPA.....as well, I'd love to see reduced pricy contracts, with Laden Incentive Contracts, ..... Teams could sign a player to a big fat long term contract, and only pay for their contributions. Of course Players with Injuries should always be paid, and have Insurance Policies on all Players, who can no longer perform, and need to be put on DFA. I know, I'm dreaming, and it will never happen.....but it is a method, to motivate players, and save $$$ with those long term Contracts.... Goals would have to be set, with an entire Paradigm Shift, which I don't think the MLBPA is even ready to hear as much; while Agents would have their clients in a mass hold out or strike...........those greedy bastages.
You'll never see Price a Yankee, Greinke I'd think would stay in LA or if he goes elsewhere Price may end up there. It is funny that the two admin toppers from frugal clubs like Oakland and Tampa Bay get into LA and spend like sailors on a three day pass. I'd hope the Yankees have another Sevy down on the farm, a great alternative to spending money.
Its been said that the Cubs & Giants will also be going strong after Price. Honestly I won't be surprised if the money rice Dodgers not only resign Greinke but also go hard after Price.
