Granted I haven't actually seen any of this, judging by the boxscores, Al Jefferson and Gerald Green have really stepped up in the absence of, well, everyone important. I don't have any stats with me, but I know gerald has been scoring around 17 and getting aroung 6 boards, whereas Big Al has been continuing his great double-double play.
Yeah, both have been playing exceptionally well. The future is looking very very good right now, and its just too bad that right now the team is getting F*cked to tears without Pierce.
I am bored, so I just decided to look up the exact numbers: Al Jefferson As A Starter (11 games) 15.7 ppg 12.0 rpg 1.8 bpg 51% FG Last 5 Games: 16.2 ppg, 12.8 rpg, 1.8 bpg, 46% FG Gerald Green As A Starter (3 games) 18.3 ppg 8.0 rpg 1.3 apg 1.7 spg 1.3 bpg 43% FG 53% 3FG (10-19) 83% FT Big Al has been exceptional. He has gotten 6 straight double-doubles, but the numbers don't tell enough. The positioning he is getting down low is just awesome, the quickness is awesome, and the post game - again, awesome. Gerald has been playing very well also, and he's putting up better numbers as a starter than I thought he would. I mean 18 and 8, very consistantly, shooting lights out from downtown (he went 5-8 last night from 3), he is EXTREMELY active on both ends, he's active on the glass, he doesn't hang his head anymore at all, and he always brings energy. I love it. Also, he hasn't been settling for 3's, he is taking good ones and he is getting to the rim. His ballhandling even over the past 3 weeks has noticeably improved, IMO. The future combo of Al Jefferson and Gerald Green WILL be awesome.
add Paul Pierce to that combinationAl and Green will be improving and growing with a Paul Pierce in his prime by their side and they're both 21 and 20 respectivelythey have a BIG future
yeah, I think in the past 5 games or so green has been averaging almost 4 3's a game, pretty incredible, because he's shooting them at a very high percentage. Now if only we could do some of this stuff in some wins..

yeah I know, I wasn't blaming him. I would never put the blame of this franchise's failure's on a 20 year old's shoulders that is playing the best ball of his career.
You NEED to invest in these two now... the only good thing about injuries is they are shining... lets just hope they continue when the other players come back.
I think they're definitely the most promising young players we've had over the past few seasons, we definitely need to let them develop over other young guys.
if they continue to put up the numbers they are right now Danny should give them contract extensions at the end of the season...at least Big AL because I think his rookie contract expires after this season
wasn't he drafted in 04?so he would of played the 04/05 season, the 05/06 season and now the 06/07 season3-years which I think is what a rookie contract is
Al Jefferson $1,618,320 $2,480,884 $3,468,276 According to hoopshype he has two more years, I'm not sure how accurate that is though. Seems like he should be making more than $1.6 million this year.

I sure hope soI want Big Al here until the day he's too old to play basketball anymore and after him, gerald and paul's fingerprints are all over the championship
not to mention role players like kendrick perkins, tony allen, sebastian telfair. this team is going to be scary in a few years.

To clarify for everybody, Al Jefferson has not gotten an extension yet. The only young players on this team that have officially gotten extensions are Kendrick Perkins (4 years, I believe, at $4M per year) and Tony Allen (1 year). We have picked up the options of Green, Telfair, West, etc. but they have not officially gotten themselves extensions. But yes, extending Al Jefferson should be at the top of their list for priorities, Gerald Green as well.
