...St Louis at Pittsburgh for a 3 game set with the division and HFA on the line. (season series tied at 8-8) ...Astros and Angels battling for 2nd WC spot. (Houston holds the tie breaker)...Twins still alive. ...Toronto and KC vying for HFA.
Pirates and Cardinals both participants in a damn good pennant race. If the Pirates swept that series it would end result with both playing the final 3 against shit teams. Angels drawing Texas , a series played on a gas tank, not likely but I'd like to see the Angels sweep that series. Props to the Twinkies, AL Central surprise Team in '15.
And the Mets are fighting the Dodgers for HFA in there series where they currently lead the bums by a game & a half.
I think the Mets are going to take home field and the big spending Dodgers will end up with the worst record of any of the NL playoff teams. I know Ron has mentioned it and we have spoken about it before. The playoff format needs to change. It's a shame that either the Cards or Pirates will end up playing a one game and out scenario.
All team get a shot at first place by playing 162 games, there fore if a team finishes at 2nd or below well better luck next year. I'd like to see the Florida Teams contracted, go to 4 seven team geographically aligned 4 team divisions.akin to the Showalter Plan. His plan also called to delete the American & National Leagues, uniform rules on the DH, with each division named after a legend player ie Ruth, Mays, Aaron can't remember the 4th. No inter division play until the playoffs and world series.
I know its all about the almighty dollar these days but IMO there are just way to many playoff teams in EVERY sport.
Playoffs are the best part so I'm actually never against more playoffs. I just don't see the point after 162 games of having a one game play in and calling it part of the playoffs. To me all they wanted to do was create a tie breaker game because there was some interest in those some years back. If it's going to be playoffs then make it playoffs. One game and out is for the NFL not MLB.
