Mine: (I will leave some out, so I don't hog up others posters thoughts of events..... Most frustrating: (None in any order) - Watching CC's demise for a Second year. Nova has still to impress me. Crappy is/was? a fkng JOKE. Not seeing Gardner, Ellsbury, and Didi, become a 1-2-3 tandem of base stealers. But ya' gotta' get on base to do so, and that didn't happen either. Of course Stephen Drew even wearing Pinstripes, blasphemous. Headley's errors, not pretty. Players going down with big fat contracts, and not performing up to those stds. Tex was a nice comeback, but went down, split decision. August-September low batting averages, #13 picked up the loss of Tex, then dropped it like a hot fkn coal. (see ***) - A, 14.41 Men Left on Base Average PER GAME, ranked 23rd in MLB, even the damned fkn Bosox were better in this catagory, shit fkn fire:s and a 3.43 Runners Stranded in Scoring Position, 20th worst in MLB. Yogi's passing, when you gotta' go, you gotta' go. and - No #2 RE2PECT. no more, ..... Trashman and Hank proved their Idiots, who's "Plan" did not quit pan out, but hey we still got 6 games to go. "Part of the Plan", to strike and win the WC 1 gamer, then the Series, good fkng luck..... Hot or Cold. Losing to bad Teams, and good ones too.... Best Moments: The arrival of Severino and Bird. As well as not trading either. Judge in the wings. Adam Warren should of been starting from the start of the Season, yet what would the bullpen of been without him. Finally finding an effective, 1-2 set up and Closer Combo. Betances - Miller #13 more than exceeded my expectations, yet broke my Heart. Tex's comeback, that went to shit, (duplication) McCann has proven he can beat the shift and has found his niche as a Yankee catcher, .....that batting average will come up in due time, as well as RBI's, HR's 2? Seeing Boston bring up the rear, even tho they kicked our ass last night. Shit guys go for it, and (***) check these out, when ya' get there hit the "Rank" downward arrow to the right \/ https://www.teamrankings.com/mlb/stat/left-on-base-per-game https://www.teamrankings.com/mlb/stat/runners-left-in-scoring-position-per-game
Yanx On Base Percentage: .322, 12th in MLB Yanx - Batting Avg: .251, 16th in MLB Yanx Stolen Bases: .36 per game, 26th in MLB Yanx Caught Stealing: .51 times per game, 27th in MLB HAVE AT IT........Please.....!!!
There have certainly been positives in Severino and Bird. The biggest negative was basically leaving the team as is at the trading deadline. That being said guys have clearly run out of gas and the Tex injury has really hurt them. There's simply not a lot of depth here.
If the 1st round goes beyond 6 games I'll be completely shocked, as you said Vic, just not enough depth.
Yup, depth is very important in an 162 games season. People are always going to get hurt. Look at the Cardinals. They're not trying to kill one another in the outfield at this point. In all seriousness that was ugly and scary last night and I hope all is well. As I mentioned it's a combination right now of bad seasons mixed in with guys who just look completely gassed. They need to clinch a spot and perhaps gets some guys rest. Unfortunately, everyone won last night except the Yankees.
...Yanx were the only PS team that did not make themselves better at the trade deadline. There were questions/concerns before the season began and there were questions/concerns at the AS break...terrible job of constructing the team, and terrible job of addressing key points when they were made obvious. ...to say that I'm "frustrated" would be an understatement.
Yeah Ron but look at the bright, The Stiener boys rewarded Cashman with a brand new contract for a job well done.
At the very least some depth would've helped this group out. Especially in the pen where you can't trust anyone outside of Betances and Miller right now. This franchise when in a position to perhaps win or make a run has never done this. And I'm sorry Bird and Sevy weren't going to be in the conversation when discussing bullpen help with another team. I get the fact that they weren't going to get a guy like Price but they should've done more. Depth is the word I keep using because that's exactly what most of the contenders do. When you look at the list of deadline moves in MLB and get past the big names. A majority of the moves are depth moves and moves to strengthen a pen or add something to the lineup. Ackley doesn't cut it.
...and just to add to what you said, if you think about all of the championship Yankee teams of the past, they all had a very solid bench. And a couple of key acquisitions and the Yanx could have won the division this year. ...there are so many things that may have changed this team's fortunes this year.
Fond memories - .....finally getting to see propects make the team.....Severino & Bird lead the way to a better Yankee future. Warren making his niche as a starter. First half wonders of Ellsbury & Gardner. Emergence of Betances & Miller as closer pitchers. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Frustrating trends - CC's falling from grace as Yankee ace & starter. Drew, Ryan on this major league team.......incomprehensible. Ellsbury & Gardner lost ability as table setters in 2nd half. Starters inability to pitch into 7th inning or more. Wasted speed on this team. Hitting inability to tack on runs. Cashman as Yankee GM. Steinbrenner boys as owners.
