(AP) -- Jason Kidd was fined $20,000 by the NBA on Wednesday for a postgame rant in which he referred to officials Jim Clark, Tom Washington and Eric Lewis as "three blind mice."The New Jersey Nets' star was angry about the officiating during a 92-91 loss at Detroit on Tuesday night. NBA executive vice president Stu Jackson handed down the fine.Nets coach Lawrence Frank was not fined despite walking on the court and yelling at Washington for not calling a foul when Vince Carter was bumped by Rasheed Wallace before missing a potential game-winning 15-foot shot."We come to work, and we work extremely hard at this, only for the officials to screw us," Kidd said. "</div>Read More...20,000 dollars is exactly the amount I would've fined Jkidd - saying "three blind mice" in the first place is bad enough - but than he goes on to specifically point out one referee...that's taking it too far. Ref's names should be only used on the court.

You have my respect Jason </div>Yeah - I love it too - cept he took it too far, just don't mention any names, and don't use some smart ass statement like "three blind mice" - it's probably offensive to them. The best way to speak your mind is to say whatever you want to say professionally - not with some smart ass comment like kidd did.
First off I think getting fined for speaking your mind is wrong, even if it is bashing something in the league. But when you single people out like Kidd did, I think the 20k fine was pretty warranted and deserved. I knew he would get fined but I didn't think it would be nearly that much, but now that I think about it more, its a pretty good amount, and sets a good example.

Well he was right, but he shouldn't have said it aloud. He's right and wrong on this one. It was just a matter of the choice of words he used.
It was obvious he would have been fined but I like to see people speak up after what happened during the playoffs. I thought his 3 Blind Mice comment was very funny.
