    Orioles walk-off with a win

    <h3>BALTIMORE 3, NY YANKEES 2</h3>BALTIMORE (Ticker) -- Ramon Hernandez drew a bases-loaded walkin the bottom of the ninth inning to hand the Baltimore Oriolesa 3-2 victory over the New York Yankees on Tuesday.

    A pitchers' duel went the way of the Orioles when Scott Proctor(1-5) walked three batters and allowed a single in the bottom ofthe ninth.

    Corey Patterson began the rally with a walk and moved to secondon Brian Roberts' single before Proctor loaded the bases withanother walk, this time to Nick Markakis.

    Proctor was making his 39th appearance of the season - secondmost in the American League behind Baltimore's Chad Bradford.The righthander has now issued 22 walks in 42 innings thisseason.

    Baltimore jumped out on top in the third when Patterson led offwith a single and stole second. Andy Pettitte then walkedRoberts before Chris Gomez sacrificed both runners over.

    Patterson came in to score one batter later when Markakisgrounded out to second. Pettitte escaped further damage in theframe by forcing Hernandez to ground out to third to end theinning.

    The Orioles took a 2-0 lead in the following frame when MelvinMora drew a one-out walk and moved to second on Kevin Millar'ssingle. After Jay Payton popped out to second, Patterson hit aflare to shallow center that Yankees' center fielder MelkyCabrera misplayed into an RBI single.

    New York evened the score two innings later when Johnny Damonfollowed Miguel Cairo's single with a two-run homer offBaltimore starter Jeremy Guthrie just over the wall in rightfield.

    Guthrie lasted 6 1/3 innings, allowing two runs and seven hitswhile striking out six and issuing one walk. The 28-year-oldrookie was forced to settle for a no decision - his seventh in10 starts.

    Tuesday marked just the fourth time in 10 starts that Guthriehas allowed more than one earned run. He has yet to allow morethan three.

    Lefthander Jamie Walker came on in relief with a runner on firstand allowed a long single into the gap in left-center field toBobby Abreu before forcing Miguel Cairo to pop out to centerfield and retiring Damon on a grounder to second base.

    Pettitte lasted seven innings, surrendering two runs and eighthits while walking five and striking out two. The veteranlefthander settled for a no decision - the ninth time thisseason he has yielded two earned runs or less and not notched awin.
