    My father proudly served two tours in Vietnam, lost a leg and was 85% disabled and would never bad mouth the decision. I take offense that you think my father was stupid to do this for his country.

    And you're the one bringing up Vietnam. I specifically said Iraq. I don't want our troops in Iraq. I can't make it any clearer than that. I DON'T WANT OUR TROOPS IN IRAQ! I don't give 2 shits about Iraq. I just don't.

    Your father deserves only honor for his part in trying. If I had to lay blame for Vietnam, it would be on Truman for failing to support Ho Chi Min when he ask for support to keep the French
    from returning after Japan was defeated. Truman turned him down and supported the French return. Johnson was double dumb but not the original sinner.

    I don't think we have to go that far, but I sure think these people that think it is our duty to create a democracy where there is none, need to be stifled. It is a very dumb idea.

    You can't force someone to be a democracy, they have to want it.

    Why are we so fucking insecure about democracy? Why does everyone have to be like us? If they want a king, or dictator, or magical farting goat why do we even care? I personally believe that a democracy is the best form of government but I don't care if Iraq does. Fuck them. Are they fighting for their democracy now? No! You know why, no skin in the game. They didn't earn it. They're not going to fight for it. They want to fight for which flavor of Islam is the best. If that's what they want then let them.

    The past and the present aren't the same thing. Expressing my opinion about Vietnam won't change history. Expressing my opinion about getting the fuck out of Iraq hopefully can.

    So because we fought in Vietnam means we need to continue sending troops to Iraq?

    That's like blaming your mom for not cleaning up your puke on the carpet when you drank too much.

    Have to blame that on CheneyBush for deliberately starting an unwinnable war under false pretenses, then refusing to withdraw while it was still feasible. They had 6 years and all the money China would lend us and basically got their ass beat the whole time. Easily the biggest military failure in our country's history.
