During the broadcast, Rice mentioned that Jason Quick is leaving the Oregonian to join Comcast. Sounds like he's taken on the role vacated by Jabari. He'll be doing articles, interviews etc. I've always really liked Jason's commentary. Don't always agree with him, but still like to hear his take. I think it'll be a nice change.
Huge upgrade. Jabari did nothing different or write anything different that you couldn't find on S2. Maybe Quick will go back to his breaking news ways -- early 2000s Quick.
Well, if you go back, there was a time he became extremely jaded, interjecting his personal negative feelings into every story and incessantly manufacturing drama. Was brutal there for a while.
He was Damon Stoudamire's personal PR guy back in the JailBlazers era. If Damon wasn't happy, Quick would do a hit piece on the Blazers.
I literally only read articles that are posted here, but I've always thought Quick was fine. No where near as bad as Canzano.
I'm glad because I don't got to cssnw often and I really don't care for Quick. Too many times he either created the story or made it about him, rather than reporting real information. Don't care for his ego either. Glad he is gone.
Doesn't this mean one and done for Quick...this is a one way ticket out of Portland from what I've seen
For me it dates back to the $amon - Sheed period. He was supposed to be a reporter, but he acted like a 'journalist'. Every article dripped with melodrama and bias. He was one of the main drivers of the intense player scrutiny and anti-Blazers crusade of the time. He is seemingly incapable of not making the story about him. Everything he writes reads like a novella for pre-teen girls. Yep, he's still on my shit list.
I'm guessing it's just the opposite. Comcast is probably tired of replacing this position. And they might have like quick because he is likely to stay for a period of time. I think it's a smart move by quick too. Gets him fully back into the thick of things ans he gets more visibility on tv
To a god-forsaken city, it seems. First Haynes to Cleveland, then Young (back) to San Antonio. Quick to OKC? (Please, please, please...)
