    The point is you can't just look up numbers on violent crime from two different countries and expect them to be perfectly comparable.

    This is the same objection some raise to gay marriages. If two women can marry, then it logically follows that a woman can marry a goat.

    The answer is, contrary to Denny's assertions, there is a middle ground. Life is full of grey areas, compromise is often necessary.

    Compromise is necessary for abortions, right? I'm pro choice, but I don't see you interested in any compromises of that right that isn't even spelled out in the constitution.

    I'm thinking your idea of compromise is only when someone else's oxe is gored.

    Find a better source.

    Mags finally googled a great source - the UK government. A wordpress.com blog is not to be taken seriously. Anyone can sign up for one of those for free. Surely there's some extremist left wing think tank site that you can cite...

    You have no idea how qualified the blogger is to discuss the subject with any authority.

    Also note violent crime in the US was rapidly declining before the Brady law.

    I don't remember ever talking to you about abortion, but there are plenty of compromises going on about abortion.

    Would I rather things were done my way all the time? Of course, but that isn't going to happen.

    There is no middle ground on abortion. If you're against it, it is truly genocide. If you are for it, any infringement on the right is an atrocity.

    You good with a 24-hour waiting period for abortions?
