...the Yanx are not a bad team, but they're not a very good one either...and unless a lot of changes are made to both the management and the roster, next year will not be any better. ...every team is the PS made improvements at the trade deadline...every team, except the Yanx. (and no, Ackley doesn't count) ...but rick, evidently because some loyal fans are objective enough to point out the flaws they see in the team they follow instead of fellating the status quo, are to be considered "whining" and "sickening".
It's also what happens when you have a lot of age on your roster. Not that you expect everyone to collapse but just compare the energetic youth you saw from Houston last night to some of the Yankee players. Not to mention losing Tex in this lineup was a huge blow. Yes, Bird did a nice job but with the season Tex was having he was somebody in the lineup the opposing pitchers had to work around. Plus, guys around him in the lineup saw better pitches.
This is a .500 team masquerading as a wild card. I'm not disappointed because they exceeded my expectations all year. There's a fine line between winning 80 and 100 games, and this team doesn't have that edge like the Cards Jays or pirates.
Saw all the mea culpas by Cashman and different plyers on River Avenue Blues. Seasons over, Yankees lost two tears and a bucket fuck it. Have we anything to look forward to, well yes we do with some of those kids, but I'm still convinced that with Cashman as GM fixing this team will be like pissing and watching the tide come in around you. I have no I have no "other team" the Yankees are it, I might offer an opinion on which teams will do what but I sure won't be out in other teams gear going rah rah I've alwys been a fan of__________________. Just don't work I'd like to see the Yankees back to the team everyone loves to hate because the rule the diamond and win often. Sad to say but with the current "brass" this team may never see a World Series again.
From the offensive side as I posted, Gardner, Ellsbury, A-Roid & McCann just broke down. And the small ball, running game & the inability to hit with RISP all led to the 2nd half collapse.
I can see how easy it is to point out Houston's youthful exuberance and all that stuff......and by the way, they also have one of the biggest skumbag hotdoggers in recent history- Carlos Gomez. And yet all of that energetic youth produced three runs on five hits vs the Yanks in the WC game....two runs coming on solo HRs......what does it all mean?....Maybe, possibly, perhaps....the Yanks drew a bad number- Keuchel. 3 GS vs Yanks 2015, including two at YS, including the WC game: 22 IP, 12 H, 28 K, 0 Runs What does it all mean? That's how the cookie crumbles. By the way Mess, could you please tell this Codename person to stop breaking my chops? Not asking for special treatment, only the chance to respond in kind to some horsesh!t thrown on me by some....seems to me a couple/few on this board take issue with anyone (in this case, me) who offers a reply/rebuttal with similar stern colorful words as were applied to ME , seems to be classic cases of having very thin skin....I DO NOT want anyone to refrain from using "colorful" words when if they disagree with me....I only ask not to be singled out by the mods....case in point- there was an ugly personal attack on me (with innacuracies!) in the below thread (post #23) which I responded to (post #29), yet this Codename person didn't take issue with post 23, but found his/her way to ME. http://www.sportstwo.com/threads/yanx-season-win-predictions.290373/page-3#post-3726095 If this is going to be a "good old boy" network whose motto is- free speech for me, but not for thee......then I want no part of it....just let me know. No problem.
And what exactly does any of this have to do with what I pointed out in the OP & your constant claim that it was a good season when it was actually only a good HALF season?
Here we go again........wheeeeeeeeeee! According to the complaints and explanations I've been reading after this WC loss, it appears the Yanks shoulda coulda won over 90 games and the division if they had TWO good halves. Yep- there ya go! But anyway, thought it would be useful----- Yanks won 87 games which is more than that other masquerading .500 team, the Houston Astros. And I'm quite sure the Houston Astros are darn proud of themselves.... Good for them..... Too bad they hit a couple of those darn HRs off Tanaka huh? Those darn HRs.....the Astros are going merrily into the ALDS... You can be a funny guy on occasions, I like it.
...who gives 2 shits about how many games they won or could or should have won?...they didn't win when it mattered most. ...they don't give rings and ticker tape parades for WC participants.
But you should be satisfied and happy...the Yanks did better than you expected and DID provide at least ONE big game with the ALDS waiting which is more than you expected.....isn't it. And I was only trying to suggest to Tote, the Yanks were a bit better than a ".500 team" and NOW there is a team with a similar record playing in the ALDS....one game....Yanks couldn't pull it off.......I am not happy but I still feel it wasn't a bad season considering it was the first year after Jeter being gone, the Arod stuff, Tanaka elbow issue, bullpen maneuver Drob/Miller, ect......this was, IMO, one of those rare Yankee years where it wasn't the end of the world if they finished in second place and missed the ALDS by one game. We can get back to bashing Cashman if you'd like but he remained on course. Didn't trade a single top prospect, didn't sign a big ticket free agent, brought up three kids who were brought along nicely Bird,Severino and Refsnyder...and now they appear to be probable keepers for next year. Not to mention now having a good solid young SS and catcher......Yanks need- IMO, a big bat for LF ....and Judge may very soon fit in RF. Hopefully a prospective farmhand can win a spot in the rotation next ST. The team wasn't an underachieving team and how many A.L. teams had TWO good halves.....realistic? An older team? Really? I really wanted to play in the ALDS, but this isn't horrible. We'll see how the team and division shape up coming out of 2016 ST. It's only baseball, I'm not as upset as I would be if they would've blown a lead in the WC game or a pivotal playoff game....and believe me.....I DO like to win. Next year -Division or bust!
...well, I'm sorry, but I'm not "satisfied" and I'm not "happy". ...as far as what I "expected", I expected for the GM to put a quality team on the field...bot this team was "poorly constructed" from the beginning...they sucked balls for 1/2 the year and they over-achieved for 1/2 the year mainly due to 2 players unexpectedly playing better than they have in years...and they'll both be back next year, as will CC, as will Beltran, as will Gardner, Headley, Ellsbury....yadda yadda yadda. ...so don't presume to tell what I should or should not be happy about.
