They need a little toughness on the backend against the BJs

not an impressive game but got the win. After the 1st the Hawks basically took over and got lucky the ref blew the whistle on what should have been a goal for CHI. Got some work to do but encouraging to get the W on the road.

Third period crap. Team was stuck in their end.....a terrible
habit the team must stop doing. It killed them last year.
Don't need a repeat of this crappy strategy.

    Got the W.
On to Columbus and their home opener.

Keep in mind there was another team out there and they're the Blackhawks. I'm happy they won and got the season off to a solid start.

A very impressive road victory that sends an early message to rest of league, could have easily been a blow out if not for Crawford ...

The prevent D style of play in 3rd period is nerve racking, to me that's playing scared, id'e rather lose playing aggressive then allowing your opponent free will, esp. A team that smells blood

We need 1 crazy good on his skates Dman to complete this team , but not overly concerned about it

    Go rangers

They need to get Boyle out of there. Mcllrath is clearly the better option than having this relic lumbering around.

It wont be too long until Dylan takes over from Boyle. Don't know what Sather was thinking when he signed this relic to a two year contract.

Now that we have Yandle for a full year. Whats the point of having Boyle?

There isn't one, I don't think they expected to get yandle at the deadline, so Boyle was the best Offdman available. He's done and the season just started. [emoji16]

What stood out to me the most was the play of the fourth line. That was one of the best games a fourth line has played for us in a long time. Stoll was an excellent pickup and played a great, hard-nosed game while also creating some quality chances. He's also anchoring the second PK unit. Moore looked comfortable on the wing and Fast is only going to get better. Hope AV keeps these guys together.

Not worried about them, but the first line was the worst line of the night. Time to shake off the rust because Columbus will be coming for them specifically. Hopefully McIlrath gets at least one game for Boyle and sends Hartnell into the third row.

It is one thing we have all been saying for a few weeks now, this team has so much more depth than last seasons team. Last season we were short on the 3rd line, let alone the 4th line. Now the 4th line is a threat, and we have a guy like Etem who isn't even in the lineup yet.

I love the depth we have, I think that is huge in hockey.

The depth will definitely help to make up for 88 points that MSL and Hags had combined among them last season.

I told a few of our beloved imbeciles here the 4th line was a big reason the team lost last year and was a huge reason they made the finals the year before. They didn't get it. I've said for many years that this team drafted McIlrath to be a 4th line team that had 4 scoring lines. They can have that now. Lindberg is going to be good.

Miller looks like a totally different player. I love it.

I think D.Moore is almost rendered useless since Lindberg is here and forces him out of position. Ideally you'd like a true winger in that slot so maybe at the dl they can acquire one for Moore and a prospect/pick. Not that he"s not a great guy and useful player but they could optimize that line even more.

No surprise the Hawks came at the Rangers hard in the 3rd, that's how they roll so it's a very good win for morale against the Cup champs. Boyle seems to be done, last year's slow start was because he was almost done. Girardi played 25 minutes last night because every time AV put Boyle out there he turned the puck over. Thought the 1st line made too many backward passes instead of working the puck toward the net but I like the line combos. I'll take Lindberg over Hags any day. I agree with turning the offense loose in the 3rd but the primary problem with the system was lousy passing on the breakout. Most importantly, Hank was in midseason form, great to see. Good times Rangers fans.

Yes. Both the 3rd and 4th lines look like they can produce. Rolling 4 lines that are a threat offensively is key especially come playoff time. Lindberg looks legit, good call Dump. Thank god no Glass yet....

People gave up on McIlrath. When he was drafted they talked about him maybe not making it until 24. He really would have made it at 22 if not for those two knee injuries. His presence solves so many issues. Like when that tool on the Bruins Rinaldo took a run at Lundqvist and McIlrath almost took his head off with a hit at center ice. I freakin loved that.

on mcilrath, i don't know hockey, i know athleticism, i felt this guy would never make this team, last time i saw him he was too bulked up, he did look a lot different preseason, much improved, just don't understand why we wasted such a high pick on this type player, isn't the NHL going away from fighting? what is this kid really gonna give this team other then that?
