What is his status with the team? I know he was drafted in the first round in 2005, but he went back to Europe. Will he play with the team? Because they will have a solid front court if he and Darko both reach full potential.
No, Vasquez screwed the Magic over. He recently signed a 5 year extension with his team overseas. I really hate that. I mean a U.S. team picked you lotto, took a risk, gave you your chance to play in the best league in the world, and how does he repay them? By saying, I'll see you in 5 year. Pathetic.
Are you serious? 5 years? That's terrible. That would hurt to be a Magic fan, when you could have gotten Hakim Warrick, Sean May, Danny Granger, Gerald Green, Rajon Rondo, Nate Robinson, Jason Maxiel, Ryan Gomes, Luther Head, etc, etc, etc....

The Orlando Magic do hold the rights for Fran Vazques indefinently. He can still be used in trading scnenarios.
^ But nobody is going to a trade for a guy who is not coming to the NBA for a minimum of 5 years, if at all.
I think the whole Fran Vazquez is blown out of porportion. It sucked at the moment of the draft because the Magic expected him to come over. But when a foreign player feels like he needs more seasoning before coming over, you give it to him. So he signs a 5 year extension with a team overseas, big deal. This will benefit the Magic in the long run and also it's not like he's gridlocked into a deal. A buyout is extremely plausible before the 5 years is up.
