N. Syndergaard vs. Z. Grienke Lineups to follow.... Mets- Granderson Wright Murphy Cespedes Duda d'Arnaud Conforto Tejada Syndergaard Dodgers- Kendrick Seager Gonzalez Turner Eithier Crawford Grandal Hernandez Greinke
Hey, it is what it is, IMO sometimes its better to just shut down the poster for a day or so rather than shut down an entire thread. But its either this or no where so I've no choice.
Well I'm new here so I don't know what should be done but I don't appreciate creating Game Threads that turn into a Girardi discussion. I told you already that I'm done talking about the Yankees until March.
I agree Lillie.....had my fill of Yankee problems/situation. Mets' pitching is the real unknown of this series and probably throughout the playoffs.....none are tested, except maybe Colon.
I think the Mets' SP and pitching staff is just a bit better than being a "nice young pitching staff". Teams will "kill" to have to have deGrom, Harvey, Syndergaard and Matz. I think the Mets have absolutely as good a chance as ANY team to win the WS this year.....and this is the BIGGEST most CLEAREST problem with the Yankee org up to this point....producing good tough young SP. They're working on it with their last first round pick. Let's use our imagination......shall we? Put deGrom and Harvey on the Yanks from the beginning of the season..... .....think Toronto would've won more games? Keep in mind the consistent GOOD 6-7 innings deGrom and Harvey provide over the course of the season which helps Betances and company. It's trickle down success which politicians dream about....lol
"Unknown"? I disagree....I think the Mets' pitching is BETTER than the Dodgers...man for man, from top to bottom. And it will show.
It would be hard not to be with the endless young arms. They should thank Omar for that one. Plus, the Dickey trade was a robbery.
to reiterate on why Kershaw is no Koufax, and Greinke no Drysdale, (tho' I've not seen an exciting 1-2 Bums SP punch since the 60s)..... Koufax "The Left Hand of God;" in P.S. was 4-3 in W.S. play with a staggering .095 Era, 57 IP, 36 Hits, 2 of those hits, for HR's (1 from Mantle), 61 K's, with 11BB's, and 1 IBB, with no HBP's......... no need to even look a 2nd time at CK's P.S. stats, as for Greinke vs Drysdale: Greinke: in P.S, 2-2 with 3 no decisions, a 3.63 Era, 44.2 IP, 39 Hits, 4-HR's, 37-K's, 8-BB's, 0-IBB, 2-HBP, ..... Drysdale: 3-3 record, 2.95 Era, 39.6 IP, 36 Hits, 8- HR's, K's, 12 BB's, 2 IBB, 1-HBP Tho' both CK and ZG bring back fond memories of SK and DD, neither CK or ZG are and never will be Koufax or Drysdale..... I favor Greinke in this game, but, don't believe Donnie BB is going to see, let alone Win a NLCS. Let alone a NLDS. The Cards will eat their lunch, if both meet in the LCS. I do believe the Bums could take the Cubs, with a 4-3 Seasonal W/L record, a 3-4 vs the Mets, and 2-5 vs St. Louis. As in 88 1-10 vs the Mets, and we know the rest, .......... Much like the Stanley Cup playoffs, (but not to the same depth/extent) MLB/NHL/NFL/NBA-Playoffs begin an entirely new Season in itself, devoid of In-Season numbers or performances.....
...CL I thought you were quite clear about what you meant your first and your second reference about the Mets' staff...it's a shame you had to explain yourself again.
and for being "untested arms in P.S." they're off to a helluva start. What a Pitching duel last night, deGroms has had outrageous fast movement on any pitch he throws,..... a great SP in years to come, these Young Gun Arms...... I can't see the Bums as contenders, not this year or last.
My exact thoughts.........Honestly, I'd rather see Donnie BB as nothing more than a Hitting Coach. He's done a decent job with getting his Young rookies, and Gonzo as well, to hit to the opposite field; (Don's approach not Mark's). the Bums are still a work in progress. I don't care to have McGwire as any teams hitting coach. C'mon, the guy was not a high average hitter, and the Bums need to continue playing small ball, with an occasional HR blast.... Gonzo's bullet blast down the LF line last night, a good example, only prob was he hit it so damn hard, the ball bounced off the wall so quick, Gonzo could not stretch it into a double.....
