this is the furthest thing from the truth, we go back along ways mess, why are you doing this?

i have commended everyone on here for their knowledge of the history of this great game, that i believe has been tarnished, and the stats that are put on here, the effort that went into it should be commended, and it properly went to those individuals that posted them, but never did i intentionally attack another for any reason, like totes said it takes 2 to argue, and a mature individual to accept they maybe wrong. do 2 wrongs make it right, absolutley not.

The boss had the deputy on of making ball players understand that being a Yankee was an exceptional honor, and that when an exceptional franchise went after a player its because they are the best and they are winners. This is what this franchise lacks.

Girardi stillmpreaches the mantra, but mgmt doesn't back these ideals...its obvious the team is about the bottom line. Girardi, like Torre were great handlers of the mystique and exceptionalism. They are stewards, not managers in the sense you talk about. Cashman is more finance than baseball...he was marginal when handed the tools. When you look at all the special asst they gave him, these were all well respected baseball first people.

IMO, this team needs a top down rebuilding.

If we want to discuss GMs/Cashman.....

As we speak....Dombrowski has left the Tigers a mess.

Sometimes alot of money can be "dangerous". Lmao

Yes, we do go back. What I'm saying is a lot of the black and white evidence goes contrary to what you're saying. Therefore, many conversations have ventured into the same direction over and over.

And we need to revisit this beaten to death topic again why? Sadly, nothing seems like it will change here.

The problem is so many factors go into not doing the necessary purging. I'm not saying they're valid but they do exist.

    1) Can't rebuild in NY
    2) Can't trade any of these contracts
    3) Prices in the stadium are so expensive a non competitive product will not draw therefore hurting the team

Mess....not all believe Cashman is a bad GM and some...including me believe he has done well juggling big long term contracts AND simultaneously infusing good young minor league talent which has already contributed to the big club.
I didn't hear or see too many complain about those big contracts which helped win a WS in 2009. We all have opinions, and we're all entitled to them, and I believe,(my opinion) Cashman has not done a bad job under the circumstances....we can't have it both ways......spend alot of money sometimes....win a championship (2009).....and deal with it. Stop with the hypocrisy.... Some of us have memories....and I am not referring to you Mess....lol

When you see and read some posters bragging about Dombrowski fleecing Cashman- I think it's fair to bring up CURRENT comparisons with other GMs since it seems to be generally accepted by the large majority that Cashman is a BAD GM.....some of us, maybe a couple of us don't agree.

In the context of the GENERAL opinion of this board, Dombrowski has "owned" Cashman in HEAD to HEAD trades.
He (Dombr) has won a couple dating back 18 or so years....and ....IMO....Cashman has won (so far), the LAST TWO if we look back at what each GM received DIRECTLY in return from the other for THEIR team.

Cashman won the the Grandy deal- imo- and Cashman has won the Didi deal....so far, IMO.

And Dombrowski has left behind a sh!t house in Detroit...thanks to HIM.
I just hope some on this board won't give him credit for the very good young talent ALREADY in Boston.....as I said, some of us have memories. Lol

What's good for the goose, is good for the gander.

And as I've mentioned in the past that when it comes to NY and Detroit in the playoffs. The Tigers were 3-0.

Aside from you, WHO? Seriously. The fact that had he not given the opt out clauses to both Sabathia & A-Rod there albatross salaries would be off the books by now & we'd have additional funds to improve the team.

i completely agree with the 1st part, don't understand the point you are trying to get across about girardi, but if i may, torre hardly had to coach, where joe did, and thats where i will get slack, but it doesn't matter, you still have to manage what is given to you! agree 100% bout cashman comment!

think about this for a second, we have a 162 game schedule, they basically play every single day, he makes the line up with the players he feels gives the best chance of winning the game, he calls the pitches contrary to what most believe on here, he calls pitch outs, he sets the infielders & out fielders, he bases a pitchers distance in game by the books no matter what, he decides on who the long, middle & short relief will be, he decides on who gets day off, he is the boss, the general. He has more visibility, and responsibility as to what happens in a game then anyone. So, how can he not be the focal point of conversation on here?

It's very simple. Because as much as you would lIke to blame Girardi for everything from the price of milk to the crisis in Syria. He cannot go to the plate with a bat and he can't run into the field with a glove. At some point it's up to the professionals on the field to perform. Ellsbury didn't have a horrible year because of Joe Girardi.

Cashman "has done well juggling the long term contracts" that he created.

i agree, girardi does not carry the bat to the plate, don't you think i know who sucked offensively, but what's the point in pointing that out all the time and beating that into the ground. This is where i believe the coach must make up for it with some hit & runs, some Sb's, and a few other things coaches try on occasion, did we see any of this?

Some say this team is not built for that, i don't agree with that, but when tex and arod who were obviously carrying team first half went down, how come with a less potent team we still relied on the long ball to win games?
