I've not been too critical of Helfrich till now, but he cost us the game by being a little pansy and playing prevent offense in the 4th quarter. The Ducks kept going 3 and out because the cougars knew we were going to run up the middle. I know we're not world-beaters anymore, but we are a hell of a lot more talented than Eastern fucking Washington.

I was giving him a pass until a few games back because he's from Southern Oregon, but he's absolutely not a division 1 level head coach. He should be coaching Eastern Washington level teams at best and is in way over his head. We have to hope we can convince a fired NFL coach to come here (pls Chip...).

I was wondering if Tony Dungy would want to get back into coaching. He has an Oregon connection because of his son. Mark should go back to being the offensive coordinator.

  4. He is literally the spread offense version of Mike Riley.

I've actually really caught on to their CFB/Seahawks subreddits though, lots of good info and decent posters.

I don't think University of Oregon has the national pull for elite coaches that local Oregon Duck fans believe it does. If you are a coach who has to recruit would you want to be in California, Texas, Florida, the south..... or Oregon? Good luck.

Yeah if so thats really bad for Oregon. The highest paid Pac12 coach is Chris Peterson at UW who is #24th nationally and paid more than any Ducks coach ever has been.

  13. I don't think Oregon would have any problem shelling out top 5 money if Chip wanted to come back or another big name surfaced.

You want Helfrich gone, but that could mean we lose this style of spread offense that's made us so successful the last 6 years. When Chip Kelly left I remember reporters asking players if the system would suffer under Helfrich and each one of them said it wouldn't miss a beat. If the players themselves (some were off to the NFL at the time anyways) thought the system wouldn't change then I have to believe it.

Then again, it's his and his staff's job to motivate the players and make them believe in the system and Helfrich is certainly deserving of some blame. The offense does look slower. It's less creative and predictable. The defense is another story. The Ducks made a mistake hiring from within the organization instead of going out and finding an experienced defensive coordinator. There's a noticeable difference since Pellum was hired, despite having a roster of 3/4 star recruits. It should be better than this. The whole philosophy has changed, really.

I think we're ok with Helfrich, but wouldn't mind seeing Pellum go.
