I'm guessing & I hope I'm wrong that the only changes for 2016 (aside than our free agents Young, Ryan, Drew & Crapuano) are only going to effect the coaching staff. The contracts of bench coach Rob Thompson, fiest base coach Tony Pena, & hitting coach Jeff Pentland expire at the end of the month.

The biggest change I'd like to see is Cespedes in LF & Gardner packaged as trade bait.

...gotta believe that there will be a few teams with their sights on Cespedes during the off season...love to see him in pinstripes.

    5 years $100M. GET-ER-DONE.

He's only making $10.5M this season.

Yea, I'm good for the 5yr 20 mill cespedes bandwagon also. But think it will take more than that.

Lol, another big long-term contract to a player who will be going into his mid thirties.
Which Cespedes will we see in the coming seasons for 20+ mil per season?
The one who had 17HRs in 230 ABs with a .942 OPS for the Mets,
Or, the one who averaged 24 HRs 87 RBI, .263 BA , 120 Ks and .780 OPS...
    ... from 2012-2014?

    Just wondering.

You're right, we're getting so much more production from Gardner for his 12-13M per.

And 5 years is not considered long term.

...yup, Gardner will also be 35 when his legs are gone and his contract expires...Gardner also strikes out at nearly the same rate as Cespedes.

...Cespedes' career #s are more along the line of what you'd expect from a corner OFer, Gardner's #s are not...there's really no comparison.

Steinbrenner boys are in 'moratorium mode'. I'll be
shocked if Cepedes becomes a Yankee. And their
little snarky GM will have his head buried in the Florida
sand. For shame on this ball-less troika!

Honestly Cage where a full bandage is needed to fix this team I see Cashman & his boses doing nothing more than slapping on a few band-aids. And basically I have a feeling that the 2016 team is not going to look very different then the 2015 team.

Never said we're getting so much more production from Gardner.
Said I was "just wondering" about Cespedes' production comparing his performance as a Met to the previous three seasons.
Maybe you were just too busy or not paying enough attention to my post ?
    Just wondering....

..and I am aware he DOES provide more offensive production than Gardner who has now put up back to back seasons of approx .257 BA with 16/17 HRs, .749/.742 OPS.

    ...Yoenis Cespedes' OPS+ in Oakland was 119 and his career OPS+ is 122....Gardeners career OPS+ is 101....Cespedes 2015 OPS+ is 137, Gardner's is 105.
...Cespedes is also the superior corner OFer.

    ...really no comparison.

I expect the same for next year. Trashman can't make a deal, He has no cards, if this were a poker game. Can't win to save his ass. Next years bad deals of the past will hurt this team, going forth, with but a few bright spots......

    Like watching new re=runs.....

Yep, agree, Cespedes is unquestionably more productive offensively than Gardner as I said in post #15:

..and I am aware he DOES provide more offensive production than Gardner who has now put up back to back seasons of approx .257 BA with 16/17 HRs, .749/.742 OPS.

The Mets have a payroll that is half of what the Yankees have so It wouldn't surprise if they spend a little to hang onto Cespedes.

...then exactly what the point of post #8?

    1. "Lol, another big long-term contract to a player who will be going into his mid thirties. "

    ...???.....Not sure what's so funny.

    2. "Which Cespedes will we see in the coming seasons for 20+ mil per season
The one who had 17HRs in 230 ABs with a .942 OPS for the Mets,
Or, the one who averaged 24 HRs 87 RBI, .263 BA , 120 Ks and .780 OPS...
    ... from 2012-2014?"

...that question has already been answered. There really wasn't that much difference in OPS+ between those years...and Rick clearly premised in the OP that his desire was to package Gardner with another player/s in a trade and replace Gardner with Cespedes...seems pretty clear to me.
...Cespedes would be a significant upgrade, period...and Gardner would be a significant trade chip, period.
