Who do you think is better now? In the past I would've gone with Marion but right now I think Howard is the better player. What do you think?
Shawn Marion easily. They play similar games, they both are versitale, but Josh Howard is a poor man's Shawn Marion. Marion rebounds better, blocks better, plays better defense, and is a better scorer.
I don't know. Josh Howard has owned Marion the last two years. I haven't been impressed with Marion at all this season....I think this may be his last season here.
If this comparison was asked last year, I would have laughed in your face. But after watching Howard play this year, I have really been impressed. He has shown that he can go off and put up 30 any given night, and I like that about him. His rebounding has improved IMO as well. I think it is hard for Marion to stand out on that team though. When you have Amare, Boris, and other guys on your team that play your position, it is kinda hard to stand out. I know that he still gets alot of minutes, and that Boris and Amare play alot of minutes at other positions that Marion doesn't play, but they take away shots, rebounds, and other things as well...

Howard is much better with the ball than Marion. That is where I would give Howard the biggest advantage. Marion relies a ton on Nash to get his points and the speed of the game. Howard has just taken over this year offensively for Dallas becoming the second option to Dirk. Those that are saying Marion is clearly better don't watch the games. Howard also has Dampier and Dirk taking away some of his rebounds. It is worth it considering Dallas is one of the top rebounding teams.
Yeah, you can penalize Marion for having all those talented players around him...and you can say the same with Josh Howard...but can anyone honestly say Howard wouldn't put up better numbers if Nash was passing him the ball?I can't...so I'd say Josh...he's younger, and will probably improve as well.
No contest, Shawn Marion. Rebounding, Scoring. Just solid overall. I think they play two different positions and can't really be compared. Howard is more SG then SF IMO and Marion is a SF playing out of position in PHO.

Not a big difference.I'm still undecided on this comparison though. I think I might have to give Howard a small edge here.

Shawn Marion's been averaging 20ppg since he came into the league, he's been a very consistant scorer without Nash. Shawn Marion just isn't a go-to scorer and thats why I like him. He can get you 20ppg without shooting the ball too much and being a hog with isolation plays. I have not seen Howard play this year so I'm not going to say who's better.

As an example of how great Howard has been this year check out tonights stats. 28 points 17 rebounds 5 assists and 3 block shots off of 10-16 shooting. Dirk was out so Howard had to come up big and he did.

I'm not trying to discredit Marion but Howard has been on a terror lately. Easily one of the most underrated players. Marion has better stats at this moment but to me stats don't tell the whole story.

I think Howard and Marion are very similar players. They both get a lot of their points, rebounds, and blocks seemingly out of nowhere just because they work so damn hard.I think it's close. I think maybe JHo has played better this year, so it depends on how you look at it.
See most people that are picking Marion seem to picking the "bigger name" player to me.You see Marion...the veteran that's playing on the leagues sweet heart team...and then you see Howard...the unknown player that doesn't get talked about alot.I think this debate is something that needs be thought out before picking...taking some time. But some guys are just saying it's hands down Marion...and I don't think some people have even seen Howard play much, if at all.Just my opinion...don't go get your basketball shorts all in a bunch guys, lol.
Im going with Josh Howard for the simple fact that hes a go-to type of player. Im not so sure Marion is, hes always have had elite PGs with him, J-Kidd, Penny Hardaway,Marbury,Nash. And Howard has had Terry and Harris the past few years. If this was a defense thing, I would be picking Marion, but you have to compare how they get their points, and Howard does it more in a go-to-player type of way.

He is possibly the only player who can put up 20 a game without being that "go-to-guy" or having plays ran for him which makes him that much better, it is also that reason why the point guard he plays with doesn't improve his game all that much as the bulk of his offense comes from tip-ins/put backs and lobs.
Shawn Marion hasn't impressed from what I've seen of him so far, so for just this season I'd problay be more inclined to go with Howard, but previous seasons I'd have went with Marion as a no brainer almost.
