Can anyone explain to me why few if any women see the humor in all things fart related??? God left that little piece out of their humor systems....

Because women have it drilled into them from a young age that farting/burping is not ladylike. So they cringe when someone DOES fart.

My parents were both employed. We spent a lot of our formative years with our grandparents, which was kind of cool. It gave me a whole different relationship with them. They mainly stayed at home anyway.

Hmm that's interesting.... so you still got that constant influence in your life, but it was your grandparents?

    Did they live nearby?

Thank God I'm teaching my granddaughters differently. It's tough work and my wife is appalled, but it's a worthy mission.....

LOL! Ever since I told people that you wear 3" lifts in your shoes you've been trying to insult me with the age thing.

Why not show up to the Meet and Greet and we can settle this.

Yeah they did until I turned 10. Also, my Dad worked nights (for a few years after we moved) and my Mom worked days so they made it work. God, must have been hard work, huh.

I thought you were interested in a career in urban planning? Do that and become a land use consultant. I've been doing that for the past 30 years and working from home. In this crazy over-regulated world, handling red tape for property owners and developers is a growth industry. Well, unless we have another massive recession like 2007. That sucked.

I definitely am interested, but right now I'm working in new construction/energy management. I might go back and get my masters, but right now I think I'm going to stick where I am.

Probably wise, but you don't really have to get a masters to do land use consulting. I went that route and it's been a help, but mainly people want to know you can get the job done. One of the guys I know who does what I do just has an English degree. He studied up on his own and took the AICP test so he could put that on his business card.

I see this a lot in LA. Mexican women/maids are raising the kids of wealthy parents, taking them to parks, etc. I think the moms are just lazy and don't want to deal with the kids, I think a lot of them aren't working just don't want to deal with motherly duties other than the good stuff.

I've got 3 young kids and my wife stays home. It can absolutely be done, you just have to adjust your priorities. When my first was born we couldn't afford to be on one income so my wife started an in home daycare. She didn't try to make as much as possible, just wanted a little help with the bills, and was instead very selective about the families we worked with becuase we wanted good influences arond our kids. She quit the daycare a few years ago and my kids are still very good friends with the daycare kids. With 3 kids now, the cost of putting them in daycare would basically take my wife's full income so there is no point in her going back to work.

Even once all of mine are in school, I think we will still want her to not work just to make sure the kids can do any extracurricular activities with our work schedules limiting them.

You can go to school to be a stay at home parent. My wife knew we wanted her to be at hime with the kids so she majored in early childhood education. Financial reasons aren't the only reason to study something!

And no, you don't need to make 200K+

My parents divorced when I was 7, so both my parents worked and I raised myself mostthe time because the babysitters had to focus on my mentally handicap brother.

My wife is gonna scale back and work part time when we have kids. We have four sets of grandparents around town to help out with babysitting

This connection might not reflect the proper view. A persons education should be independent of what you are doing, working or stay at home. It probably should be viewed as life time project.
Of course one must at time give priority to learning to satisfy your job requirements. And then the fact is, education is available from more sources than just college, as more and more information is readily available without paying tuitions.

Then people need to get their priorities straight, there is no more important thing to do than to raise your children to be ready to be adults. If you have the cash, perhaps you can hire a person more qualified than yourself or your wife but for most of us, it is out of the question. My wife and I did the both work for a couple years with our first child. It was terrible. She then stayed home until they were both over 12 years old and most of the time in school. Then she went back to work. Would more money be nice? Yep for sure, but not worth the cost.
