Wonder what we do with Montero and Patty. Don't think we have a dleague affiliation any longer, and they definitely will NOT get any PT. Neil, iirc, has gone on record to say he prefers to keep these guys in house rather than send them off to some podunk town.
Gundersens take Montero played in only two preseason games so far this season. He’s a project in the rawest sense of the word. The Blazers have given indications to Montero’s camp that they want to see where his game is in a year, according to league source. His 6-7 frame, long wing span and skills with the basketball have made him a project worth investing in for the time being. Honestly they'll develop more in practice with the team than in the dleague playing in a different scheme with different players.
If Hendo, Harkless and Aminu are out for a half as they were last night Pat will be in the rotation. Can we send Luis to a DLeague team? There is supposed to be a general NBA one but I think the Pacers bought it.
We still can, any team can. They would play for the Fort Wayne mad ants, but I don't think they can control how much pt Montero gets there. It's a totally different situation than sending a player to your affiliate. I wonder if it might be better to keep him in town and in practices + playing sparring minutes in garbage time then to have him possibly riding the bench for some d league team.
Send him away; either he'll get playing time or it'll be an uncomfortable disaster which could be a good life lesson for him.
