This was the amount he said he was looking for entering free agency. I'm watching him play in the preseason right now; he just played half the first quarter and looks quicker on his feet than I expected. I didn't notice any effect from the injury. We never used the cap space signing Wes would've needed. We'll have even more cap room next summer and who knows if any free agents will be interested in taking it. With the cap skyrocketing his contract could be a team friendly asset in a year or two.

I was in favor of letting Wes walk in July but now fine myself regretting the decision. Obviously we didn't know then what we know now.

    What do you now think?

When he left I threw a pewter replica of the Death Star into my 175 gallon salt water aquarium and rolled around crying and bleeding in the water and the glass and the dying and dead fish.

    I'm still salty.

I'm going to say no...but leave the option to sign him in 5 years when he's cheaper and we're contending for championships every season..he's a guy I wouldn't hesitate to like seeing retire here later on in his career

I won't regret giving a slightly above average shooting guard (in an era of "meh" shooting guards) 15 million a year, no.

No if was asking 12 million I would comsider it. But with this team he properly wouldn't sign anyway.

I am a huge Wes fan! He is near hero status to me. I'm glad he got paid, he's earned every dollar.

But I have no problem with the Blazers letting him go elsewhere. There was no reason to bring him back for that amount of money. We weren't going to make the playoffs with him. I wish him the best in SA.

    ...

Holy fuck, if CJ puts up big numbers this year he could end up being a max player. The Wes contract really abused the market for an above average shooting guard.

He's in Dallas Sly..not SA but it was Chandler Parsons that started the overpaid trend along with Jeremy Lin..Cuban started the ball rollin'

    Not fixed! ;)

But I agree with you 100%. When guys work as hard as Wes does, which is a rare thing in this league, it demands my respect, and though I'm glad WE didn't pay him because of how the future was viewed and is going, he deserved every penny.
With that said, I wonder if he will be able to continue that locker room motivation being in a new environment and not knowing teammates like he did here. He could bark at players here because they had gelled and respected each other.

They both could play 30-35mpg here with CJ being the backup point and Wes getting a few SF minutes.

No way for another reason. He fit the last team well because it wasn't near as athletic and run and gun as we are now. I don't think Wes would fit in with this much faster paced offense. He has never been able to create his own shot and though he develop a solid post up game, we are not looking to be posting up guards with this team. Big fat no.

    Love ya Wes!
