Think harder Al. Because his alternative is sitting on the bench 85% of the time for the rest of the year. Pretty simple to figure out.
 
Then he gets paid for doing nothing. There's no leverage for the Rangers there. Plus, the obvious and common sense question that goes unanswered it who is taking him in a trade? You guys think the Rangers play in some bubble where nobody else can see what players are doing.
 
My biggest concern about this Rangers team after their first game against Columbus was how they responded to a team that gooned it up against them. Aside from Kevin Kline there is no player in last night's lineup that can drop the gloves and defend himself, that's why you need a guy like Tanner Glass in the lineup against teams like Philly. NHL refs will always look the other way when Rangers get hit illegally, has been that way for decades. I've always felt it was because most refs are Canadian and harbor an inherent dislike for American teams especially original 6 since they grew up as kids hating them. Unfortunately AV plays right into the hands of these teams with his disdain of this type of play and reluctance to respond to it, that was the knock against him in Vancouver and why the Canucks let him walk despite his success there. If he continues to be so stubborn with McIlrath the same thing will happen here in NY, Rangers players will not be content to see their teammates getting knocked out of games by cheap shots while AV does nothing.

While you can't force Boyle to accept a trade you can certainly park his ass in the press box, the Rangers are not a step from the poor house so his $4 mil salary is irrelevant. The leverage the Rangers hold is in the fact that Boyle has limited time left, does Dan want to finish his career as a spectator or a player? That is the choice he should be given. It's a crime that McIlrath has only played one game thus far.
 
Someone should have went after Gudas. Next time that rat will do that to Nash, Zucc, Brass, etc. this is why they need to demand Boyle accepts a trade. Tired of this pansy shit with AVs team. It was a deliberate head shot and nobody does shit
 
I think we should repeat it 30 times. Yes, force somebody to accept a trade to some phantom team who's just itching to help out the Rangers and take on Boyle and his cap hit.
 
Boyle's cap hit is a total non factor. He's in the last year of his deal and he's still better than what a ton of teams use on defense out there. Starting with Philly, Columbus, NJ, the Islanders to name just a few.
 
Its time for Big Mac to get some action. The kid also has a big shot from the point and if given some games he will also contribute a little offensively. And whenever the next game is that he plays in he needs to be out there on the PK
 
If it is true, and everything points it out, that AV's teams
play a pacifist style game........and the game itself dictates
that hockey is a survivor's sport, no wonder his teams
are injured come playoff time. I'm tired of Ranger teams
not standing up to goon tactics. Hockey is not a
pacifist game!
 
Boyle's not going anywhere so just stop. He's impossible to trade, with his no trade clause and his lack of talent and cap hit. The only thing they can do is bench him, but as I've said for years now, AV does NOT like Dylan nor does he like Dylan's style of play. He'd rather his players take hits that are high and questionable than have a guy like Dylan out there to deter a team from that. Boyle is this year's Glass. Speaking of Glass, has he been brought back up yet with the injury last night? Because we all KNOW it's coming.
 
Typical, dumbass Rangers fans. Think all our players can't be traded. Idiotic and pathetic thinking. Scott Gomez. That is all I have to say. Boyle is in the last year of his contract. That's makes him incredibly easy to deal. Plus, as usual, Rangers fans think all our defenseman suck. Have for years which is laughable. This has nothing to do with Boyle having a lack of talent. It has to do with wanting to get McIlrath in there.
 
I'll give you a team they could trade him to in a second if the jackass was told he won't play here any longer and to waive his NTC. Colorado. They have 10 million in cap space and their defense blows. They have 2-3 young guys who need to platoon. They aren't ready for full time NHL duty. Carolina with 8 million in cap space and several young, dopes on defense that have no clue is another easy fit. He doesn't have 1 to 3 more years on his contract. Essentially he's a rental.

YOU SAY COLORADO'S DEFENSE SUCKS AND YET BOYLE IS GOOD FOR THEM WHEN HE CAN'T EVEN PLAY DEFENSE? You've lost your damn mind dump. If Boyle was a defensive dman then it could make sense, but Boyle plays ZERO defense and his offensive skills are almost ZERO now. He has nothing that anyone that needs defense wants. If you want to say package him with a different player, than yes. But straight up, you're not getting anything worthwhile back and you're not going to get Boyle to waive his no trade clause. Even if you "threaten" to bench him, he's at the point in his career he doesn't care. He's not going to waive it. He doesn't owe this team a god damn thing. Those two teams you listed don't need a defenseman that can't play defense. Boyle does NOT help them. If they made him coach then yes. But it's all for nothing because he's NOT waiving his NTC for this team and at his age. He's happy to be here and he doesn't care if he's benched. He's getting paid regardless and he won't have to risk hurting himself.
 
Also, they can't MAKE him or demand that he waive his no trade clause. They can only request, and he can say no and there's not a god damn thing they can do.
 
If Boyle was good why would you want to trade him? It's not about just wanting Mcllrath in there. Boyle has shown himself to be old, slow and a turn over machine. But yeah now he's suddenly great and tons of teams would want him.

This board never changes. Half the posters can't read. I said you deal him to make room for McIlrath. Open your freakin eyes. Two, half the posters every year on this board think all our players suck. Yet, the team has been to the conference finals at least 3 of the last 4 years.

We all agree that Dylan should be playing over Boyle. However, as I've stated for the past year plus, AV DOES NOT LIKE DYLAN TYPE OF PLAYERS. So Dylan is basically never going to get any REAL playing time nor shot with this team, and it's a shame because we need a guy like him. If we aren't going to play him, then Dylan is the one we should trade because we can actually get a decent-to-good return for him. I don't want Dylan traded, but if we aren't going to play him, then it's not fair to him or his shot at a career.
 
U banish boyle, fine, but word gets around the league that a guy took less to come here and this is how he is repaid. For a 6th dman he isnt the worst player in the nhl. Same ole shit...we score 2 goals and its boyle who we need to change....

Boyle does need to see some bench time so we can see what Dylan has. It's just insane that he's only played one game. He's going to be AWFUL in his next game played, and then that will allow AV to keep benching him. He needs a fair shot and he's not getting that.
 
You are right on Al. Outside of Lindberg who has done anything on O? CK, Nash, Hayes, Brass, McD (doesn't even have a point yet)???

The fact that we are 5-2-2 and leading after two periods tonight is a minor miracle and thanks to Hank and Raanta.

I believe this will be reality during the long season. We are going to be uneven in some games and sometimes not show a lot of life. I fully expect that this season after all the hockey we have played the past few seasons.

My focus is stay pretty healthy and get into the playoffs and away we go. I am thinking 2nd or 3rd in the Met and go from there.
 
If we watch the NFL draft instead of Ranger playoff games would that make us better fans and not dumb asses?
 
I doubt boyle will waive his ntc...there is a reason he asked for it...at this stage of his career and life does he really want to uproot and move to a new city?....does he really see himself earning another huge contract somewhere else? So he agrees to be a rental...then will move to another city after the year?

Or he can be a roll player here...perhaps get one last cup run in his career. ..

Then please all high and mighty dump, tell me again how EVERY TEAM wants Glass and how we're all the dumbasses that don't realize it, yet he just cleared waivers to be sent down. Don't worry. I'll wait. I'm sure your response will be great.

Do I think we could potentially get Boyle to waive his NTC and that potentially we could deal him...yes it is possible. BUT my point is I really don't think that should be the focus in here. It is out of control this Boyle thing.

Do I trust McIlrath to be the 6th dman game in and game out...not fully.
Do I think a WAY bigger focus should be guys like Nash and Kreider than our 6th dman...yes.

That's my point here. Stop focusing so much on our 6th dman, like it is this huge issue and McIlrath is some proven stud who is being held back, and focus on more important things.

And once again I would like to point out the team is 6-2-2 and no one who reads these posts would ever think that...they would think we were in last place...LOL.
