Yeah, he usually does - about once a year. Don't believe me? Go back and read through the last couple pages of this thread and look at the dates of the posts. You've only have to go back about a page to see that his last two "dominant" games were one in 2014 and one in 2013. I'm sure we all look forward to you bumping this thread again sometime in 2016. Rubio is a great passer and fairly good defender, he is just the worst shooter the league has ever seen so when teams are bad defensively or decide to actually defend Rubio then he has huge games because he can hit the open man everytime. When teams play off of him he has a much harder time.
It is possible that he worked hard all summer improving his shot. He did shoot 10-17 from the field (including 2-4 from 3) in the game. Of course, believe it when I see it happen more (often) but I don't think it will be a year before someone bumps this thread again. Just a hunch.
Sure, it's possible, but one good shooting game does not reverse a career long trend. In the past, he's always been good for a couple good shooting nights a season - usually against the Blazers. IF Rubio could ever consistently knock down shots, he'd be a great player. The sad fact is even if he hits 0.390 FG%, it will be a significant improvement and a career high - but he'll still suck. Until he goes a full month shooting above .400, last night's performance is just an anomaly, not a trend. BNM
That said, I was cheering for Rubio last night. It was damn nice of him to have his career night in a win over the Lakers. He keeps that shit up, he'll definitely win me over. BNM
Rubio's young enough he could make big improvements. He doesn't have to be a 3 point shooter; if he can just convert at the rim or around the free throw line it'll change everything with his game. We've seen plenty of elite PG's blossom well into their 20's so I wouldn't put it past him. When he's playing well he is one of the most exciting players to watch in this league; a real pass first PG so I hope he can put it together.
