Clearly she fouled him... the cop plays on our team, right? That's the only reason we're taking his side, yeah?

It relates, because this is another example of how often kids behave violently in schools, because authority figures are facing continual backlash from one sided viral videos and media PC attacks, lawsuits, bla bla, meaning they can't adequately handle students.

I called no one a monster. My problem was not disagreement but referring to a human being as a "little shit". Since she is a "little shit", don't ask questions, just assault. Don't try to find out the facts. A "little shit" gets flushed down the toilet.

The video is unclear; she may have swung her arm when assaulted - and I'd do the same - or it may have been a reflex.

Had a video surfaced of a parent throwing a child across the room the parent would be in jail. Had a teacher done it, he/she would be fired, tenured or not. But then, she's just a "little shit", so it's OK if a 250 lb cop throws her across a room.

There are reports that the student, oh, excuse me, the "little shit" was just bereaved, that she just lost her mother. But she's a "little shit", not a disturbed student. If no one in the school knows how to handle a disturbed student, the problem is them.

There have been increasing moves to criminalize misbehavior, even among very young children. The county sheriff talking on national TV about a teen's cell phone use? Generally when a county sheriff is on national TV, he/she is talking about rape, murder, armed robbery, kidnapping, child molestation, arson, terrorism. Not a girl using a cell phone! It is literally a crime in South Carolina for a student to be "obnoxious" in class, yes that word is used. I freely confess I was sometimes obnoxious when I was a teen. I'd bet 99% of you were too. As this law cannot possibly be universally applied, since there would be no one left in class, it's by its nature selective. Against "little shits", I mean black girls. Disturbed young people. Misfits.

People here talked about parental responsibility and why this student was not raised better. My question: what type of parents raise people who call another human being a "little shit"?

You do realize that personal attacks are against the rules? You can disagree with him all you like, but he's entitled to his opinion without you firstly accusing him of being a racist, and secondly questioning his upbringing. I see spoiled "little shits" in the store all the time. Entitled little kids that throw tantrums. What type of parents raise children that act like wild animals in public places? That's my question. And then those parents have to literally carry that "little shit" out of the store, kicking and screaming and crying because they didn't get the toy that they wanted.

You seriously need to climb down from that moral high ground that you're trying to occupy.

Hopefully she's suspended. But probably not. What will it do? Just promote the 'cycle' and put her on the street selling drugs I'm betting.

It's a lose lose for everyone. She continues to believe there is no consequences for her actions, and wont take responsibility guaranteed, the other students now see that they too can override authority, and a person is out of a job.

A orphan who had recently lost her mother, if you looking for reason for her actions this is it. This has nothing to do with someone not respecting authority. This is someone who is hurt deeply and does not know how to express herself. She needs help, not more discipline.

Perhaps you are correct. But then the other students in the class need a sane orderly room conducive to learning the subject at hand. A class with one student drawing the attention of all hands is not that place.

Teachers could always offer extra credit to students who shame the child out of the room. No physical violence, and only emotional scars to show for it!!!!

I can see that, but discipline should be instilled as well. Also I think Police should get out of schools. I said it before in the thread; schools should have specially trained third party personnel to monitor and secure their rooms/facilities.

I think the Deputy was completely abused. He was asked to perform an unpleasant duty, took whack or two from the student in the process. Then he was excoriated in public and fired for performing the action requested.

I suppose the the young lady is now a heroin in her community, while the lowly deputy is discredited and out of work.

Hire the white coats from the mental institutions. They can rush in, inject the kid with something to calm them down, wrap em in a straight jacket, and then hurry them out of the room. Done and done.

True but I think the majorty of the disruption was caused by the way the teacher and officer dealt with the situation. This officer had the nickname "officer slam" with the students. Also any teacher worth his salt should be able to recognize a cry for help from one of their students and deal with it in a more clam manner. The biggest lesson Ive learned as a step dad is that when you lose your cool, they win, doesnt really matter what the subject is.

I do agree with blue that cops should not even be in schools, but im not sure what the difference a private security company would be, and with society the way it is I think we need something.
