Ben Simmons looks like a cross between Stephen Curry and Nicolas Batum.

I am extremely intrigued about this coming offseason. If we get a top 5 pick and take the BPA, I wonder what we're gonna do with all that cap space. I doubt we get someone like Durant. I could see maybe DeRozan.

It's going to be a weird mix of youth and maybe a couple veterans.

Here's the thing, would Derozan want to come into yet another "re-build" (re-tool, whatever)... he just got through one in Toronto and they actually could do well in the next couple of years.

If we get Derozan, what happens to CJ? They are similar in some ways.

I really just have a feeling that CJ is not meant to be here long term. We have too many young wings. Someone is going to have to go.

Things are way too far off to make any solid predictions. But at this point I think Neil will be very active on Draft Day. If we don't get a Top 5 pick I could see him trading up by packaging a couple players with our pick. Even if we get a Top 5 pick I could see him trading up to make sure he gets the guy he wants. I don't think he'll hand out a massive contract to a middling star like DeRozan (again, we're not a Free Agent destination so it'd be a poor plan to rely on improving through Free Agency). Instead he'll try to make a lopsided trade for a star, or, failing that, target undervalued role players and sign them to reasonable contracts, similar to what he did this summer. But the biggest roster changes will happen on Draft Day, IMO.

CJ and our pick will get us Ben Simmons or Dragan Bender! :)

Depends on what our pick ends up being. I guess it just depends on whether Neil thinks we're like 3-4 years away and wants to grab a ton of youth, or if he thinks we're only a year or two away and wants to grab a couple of stars now.

It's why I think CJ is our best trade chip. I don't dislike the guy, I just think he could net us something good.. especially if he has some consistent games (which I'm doubting).

I just honestly hate the Dame/CJ backcourt. Never been a fan of two combo guards. It didn't work with Steph/Monta. I'm not sure where I would try to send him though. I think Indy might be willing to give up Paul George if the price was right.

Agreed. I think Olshey did a nice transition from knowing he could grab anyone (LAC), to knowing what he can really do here. Which is undervalued players and draft day moves and slick trades.

CJ/Meyers/Vonleh could work. Though I love the potential Vonleh has... If it got us that guy, I'd be okay with it.

Indy strikes me as a team that needs everything. They suck in so many ways, and George isn't a #1 IMO. I think he's a great complimentary star. I think he'd be great here. Maybe start him next to Aminu.

Yeah, way too soon to say what pick we'll end up with. I picture us getting the 8th pick, but really hope we get in the Top 3.
Also difficult to tell what stars might be available at that point. Given that there are so few stars in the NBA ATM, I think we'd only be presented with guys like Melo, DMC, and Paul George...and they're all borderline stars. Not sure I'd want to trade CJ and our pick for any of them.

So our only dip is really SG and backup SF? I can get down with that. Horford, who I love... how old is he? Would we be screwed 2-3 years down the road with giving him max money?

He's 29, so yeah..... kinda risky.

Actually I'd love to go after Brad Beal. The dude is restricted, BUT we know Washington is going to be going hard after Durant. We might be able to poach him with a max deal while they're courting.

Are you saying ATL won't throw max at Horford? (If they did then why does he come here?) I could only see that if he was really old at the end of the contract. And if that is the case then we should be leery as well.

I just see Horford as a pipe dream (even more of one than someone like Paul George).

Good call. I was hearing Colin Cowherd talking about him and saying the Lakers would look nice with Beal... so, extra incentive to poach! haha.

    Washington isn't getting Durant.
