"The Derrick Rose breakup with the Bulls has begun." That's a nice turn of phrase. Windhorst, a writer for ESPN, says that "you can sort of see it." I think that means that he kinda has a feelin' about this one. He doesn't have anything from the Bulls on this nor anything from Rose or his camp. Hell, he doesn't even claim to have an unnamed source that supports this inkling he has. Still, the press, airwaves and internet are all agog over Windhorst's "scoop." What passes for news today is a real head-scratcher.
The weirdest part to me is that since Windhorst doesn't have a source, the swarm of media ready to repeat the story for God knows what reason actually cites to Windhorst himself. It's good to be him, I guess. Maybe he has naked pictures of everybody. Fort what it's worth I wouldn't care about this story even if Windhorst did have sources. What Derrick Rose or anybody affiliated with him says to anybody doesn't strike me as important. Both because he's weird and dumb, and because he's always seemed to be a ready facilitator on the court. What's going to decide whether Rose is embraced by the franchise and the city again is whether he begins to perform at an allstar level, and stays healthy.
Couldn't be more correct. The "love" most fans have for players is only as deep as the player's ability to perform and I don't have a problem with this. We all want the Bulls to kick ass so we all want Rose to kick ass. If he does, we'll embrace him as Chicago's favorite son. If he doesn't, he'll initially be ridiculed and then forgotten.
