The way it looks at this point....say hello to our next president.
    Hillary.
    The numbers are there.....this isn't 1980,or '90...or 2000.
Female voters, various "minority" groups, illegal invaders...err..I mean immigrants, the poor, working class, gays/lesbians, labor unions, toss in a whole bunch of basic liberals, idealistic college students who may also be looking for a break in student aid, and of course your old time lifelong Democrats - and the only realistic chance a Republican candidate has is if something unforseen happens or some type of calamitous event which shakes up the mood of the country.
Or so kind of "October Surprise"....otherwise- fuggedaboudit!

The Democrat candidate already has 111 electoral votes in the bag with Cali, NY, Mass, NJ.
Then we have 90 electoral votes available in PA, ILL, OH, GEO,MICH.
Any two gives the Democrat at least 32 more e-votes which brings the total to 143, possibly 151....any three of those states brings the total to at least 161, possibly 169.
Then we have Texas (34) and Florida (29).....both or either one is a toss up. Either one going to the Democrat would put the Republican's chances on life support, would probably mean game over.

Colorado, New Mexico and Florida have gone Democrat the last two pres elections. The Republicans can probably write off New Mexico and Colorado in the coming years and possibly, possibly Texas with the immigration and issues trending the way they are.
The Republicans will lose the large majority of the Hispanic vote and basically all other immigrant groups.

I can't see a "mainstream" or conservative Republican winning the Pres election- it will take, imo, some kind of populist, outsider type with a big personality, good communicator and a "positive" message which resonates across the board.

The "regular" Republican guy doesnt stand a chance - imho.....
....and the demographics aren't going to get any friendlier in the coming years.

And on top of all that- the Democrats are also quite capable of pulling out an "October Surprise" of their own.
