Back home and Ranger fans will be cheering on the team. Lets Go Rangers! Tonight Rangers salute our troops at The Garden. We all salute our troops and our Rangers! Tonight's scratches: Dom Moore & Dylan McIlrath.
I figured Dylan would be scratched....poor kid is never gonna get a real shot at success with this club unfortunately. He's shown in limited duty that he's definitely good enough to be a 6th dman and he could have a higher ceiling but with his lack of play time due to AVs stubbornness he'll almost without a doubt never truly reach that ceiling. I don't think his ceiling is a top pair dman. I'd probably say a low 3 to a 4 dman. But with how AV is, or rather isn't, using him he'll be nothing more than a 6th dman.
Jesper Fast scores 1st goal, Rick Nash 11 seconds later makes it Rangers 2 Carolina 0 in the 1st period.
Best start in team history. A good sign for a team that usually plays very well at the end of seasons.
The goaltending has been absolutely spectacular from the start of the season. Both Hank and Raanta have been great. If this goaltending continues and they don't win the cup this year, it would be an absolute travesty.
The Rangers have no right handed defenseman in the system worth crap at the moment other than Dylan. Old fart Boyle is gone next year. So, he will start all the time next season. However, he should be playing over Boyle. AV just doesn't get it. He doesn't understand that playing a soft defense starts to take its toll in the later rounds of the playoffs.
I think dylan will be getting more time as we go on. The conversations have been had by AV and maybe more importantly with boyles agent to start greasing boyles skid to the press box and who knows maybe miraculously to another team
The Rangers aren't even hitting on all cylinders yet but they're dominating, would like to see less overpassing but they create so many quality offensive chances. Glass being gone helps, losing Hags and MSL hasn't seemed to hurt at all and the goaltending is top notch. Way too early to project McIlrath's ceiling but two of the most common knocks before the season started were that he couldn't skate and he had no offensive ability, both seem to be inaccurate. The Rangers have him listed at 220, that's much lighter than his draft weight so perhaps that is what kept him back.
