HEAD COACH TERRY STOTTS “It’s always disappointing to lose a game, especially at home, but I liked our effort. I liked the way we competed. We certainly could play better but San Antonio is a really good team. They come at you with waves. There were certainly a lot of positives tonight. The third quarter, we finally were able to string together some stops which was important for us. It was good to see Gerald out there and that he got a good run in. He kind of shook off the rusty first half and was pretty effective the second half. Offensively, there was a lot to like. We’ve been pretty solid offensively most of the season so far but the defense is a work in progress and we have to keep working at it.” On Gerald Henderson’s game “The second half scoring was obvious. I thought the first half he was a little rusty just getting his legs, but I thought he showed his shooting touch, he showed his athleticism, he showed his toughness defensively, and he just showed a kind of a veteran presence as well.” Did you feel like defense got better during the course of the game? “The third quarter, the reason we got back in the game was because we were able to string some stops together. I don’t think we had three consecutive stops the whole first half and then we had two sets of those in the first four or five minutes. The more we can do that, we’ll get better.” Was it an emotional night? “Not really, other than playing the Spurs. LaMarcus coming back obviously is a big story, but honestly for the coaches and players, it was about playing the Spurs. After we lost two in a row, it was about getting a win at home against a very good team. I don’t think it had the same effect on the coaches and players as it maybe it did on some other people.” MASON PLUMLEE Thoughts on following up Monday’s loss at Denver: “I thought we were better, but not good enough obviously. They’re a veteran team, I think they showed that tonight. They really scored when they needed to in different parts of the game. I thought we played better than we did in Denver but obviously we didn’t come up with the win.” On matchup with Duncan: “He’s a smart player. That’s the only way you play this long or at this high of a level, a very smart player. They play really well together, their whole team. The ball is moving. That’s why they’ve been able to sustain success I think.” GERALD HENDERSON How did you feel tonight? “I felt good. The first half, I was like a newborn baby but just came back in the second half and got some things going.” Are you figuring out where your spots will be? “I still need to figure out the rest of the guys and where they like to be. Just get my chemistry with the other guys and that will help me figure out where my spots are going to be. They have to kind of figure out me too. I think when we go with a smaller lineup, it’s important for all of us to know our spots.” Did it take a while to shake the rust off? “It took a whole half, but I wasn’t worried about that as much. I was just trying to go out and play hard. I didn’t really change anything in the second half, but I think my teammates just kept encouraging me. It was my first time out there and I thank them for that.”
Just in case anyone forgot, that's who LaMarcus is, don't get it twisted lol. Damian made that mistake.
