I'm sure the Cubs regretted trading Brock in 64.

Lou was Ricky Henderson of the 60s, no, Lou was one of a kind. No one could Drag Bunt as good as Brock.

I'm sad for Lou, and am Diabetic myself for the last 18 yrs. Diabetes is a Curse, nothing less than....

and-Yeah, You know the Cubs blew the Brock deal, in an era they could of used him as another HOF'r. I think as much every time I look at Brock's Rookie BB Card, dressed in a Cub's Uni-

He was one of my idols growing up in the 60's. Diabetes is a disease my mother in law had and my wife is on the border with. I feel for him and all who live and face this affliction.

I know I'm preaching to the Choir, but, "ya' gotta' watch what ya' eat and drink"...!

Diabetes is HELL. On a short 2 hour trip, I had to pull over 5 times, to piss, to Kim's one time cosmétique stop....

If one looked up the word determined in the dictionary they'd see a photo of Brocks face when at bat. The man was a hell of a ball player for sure!

I spent 10 years living in Wichita off and on in the 60s, (that decade was spent in Wichita, Shreveport, Merced Ca.)......

Used to get the KC A's and Cards, & Houston Colt 45's, Giants, A's, never enough Yanx games; on radio and TV. I could not get enough of Bob Gibson, and even emualted Gibson's delivery in Little League as a Pitcher, falling off the mound with excessive torque, long stride, ball behind the back with a straight arm, (not a TJ - V), getting a foot or 2 closer to the plate with the delivery, almost always facing 1st base.

Not fundamental, but hell it worked well.....

Rob it also always puzzled me how a team with guys like Banks, Williams & Santo could be so bad.

I've always thought the same, and Brock would of been a nice fit for that era of Cub Greats. Brock's .391 Lifetime B'Avg in 3 World Series is incredible, always the Man to turn to in a clutch situation......

this is what tells me the Cub's didn't know what they had in their system at times, even tho' they had some HOF Greats, (other than those greats you aforementioned): - incl Fergie Jenkins. I think that era of Cubs tho' was poor in SP's.......(any Team who kept Rick Reuschel as a SP for 12 years, obviously doesn't know talent or lack thereof).....

Matts... You are Top Shelf AOK. My dad lived to 93 but he contracted Diabetes and his foot was rotting plus we had to help him pass on while in hospice. On your idea I once thought about a piss tube for new years eve Times Square which could fetch +$10.oo on the street. BTW I'm a stroke survivor.

I am sorry to hear about your Father, in the end all we have is Family. My deepest sincerest sentiments to you and both your Dad's Family.....It's never easy losing a Patriarch....(there is no emoticon to express what's on my heart right now).....:smiley-pray::angel:
1-:biglaugh::biglaugh:$10.- those will fly off of Warehouse Shelves. Myself, I'd pay much more for such a device, its that important.....say $50.-, and they'll still sale like hot cakes on a cold morn......:breakfast: :bgrin:

2- Holy Cow, how old were you? I hope you never have to suffer another, as well- your too young to depart this planet. Any complications afterwards??? Which type of stroke did you suffer from?? I hope an TIA, and not the other 2. Either way, I bet your on blood thinner's? Xarelto? (I'm not the Chemist, Tote is).....blessings to you and yours.....!!!:blessed:
    • ischemic stroke (caused by blood clots)
    • hemorrhagic stroke (caused by ruptured blood vessels that cause brain bleeding)
    • transient ischemic attack (TIA) (a “mini-stroke,” caused by a temporary blood clot)

Matts... Ischemic stroke. Left side Cartoroid (sp) artery very much blocked with operation provided. It happened July 014. I made it because my wife got me to the hospital in less than 10 minutes. I'm 62. I take Atorvastatin. I am very lucky. Emotional and depressive crap @work is hard to ignore and obviously the head honcho's don't know how to work with or grant sympathy for a stroke victim.
I volunteer for the American Stroke/Heart association. We proclaim the FAST message. Face, Arm, Speech,Time.

Wow, …. You are lucky to be alive, and I know You know this as well. When My own Father had his 1st of 3 heart attacks, in 99. Luckily he lived 3 minutes from the nearest ER. 5 Pacemaker's & a few stints later, and He's still kicking.

It's very honorable, and good Karma, to Volunteer for many causes, esp., those that inflict or effect us, and/or our loved ones.

I've noticed your an 'Inspector' by trade. I too spent many years as an Inspector, eventually moving up to Supervision, then Management. Inevitably finding in my lap: all Engineering & Quality Operations Dept's, the last 20 years of my career.

As an hourly Inspector, (in the early years of my career); a very important lesson came to me, like a light bulb epiphany moment***, (after observing my elder work peer's; (who were: WWII Vet's) in the same field, who approached their work very humbly, with pride; feeling fortunate to be a member of the Space Shuttle Program. A Program unlike anything else I have seen, yet there were similarities on the B2 Program, and other Black Hole programs. What was it?

***I realized a good/great Inspector can "tear a job apart," - and make the Technician feel like they were patted on the back, when in fact they were kicked in the ass.

That approach worked wonders for myself, when I was an hourly Inspector; and kept Mgmt, off my ass, and in my camp.

Have you a Union or Human Resources to turn to, for perhaps utilizing your American with Disabilities Act- (ADA). You know the Company is supposed to assist you with your disabilities, at least show an effort to accommodate your needs, even if it means moving you to an area where there is less stress.

    Hero, See PM..........
