    The answer.

To fall so symmetrically, each girder broke at the same moment as the others on its floor. Uncontrolled, it would have been random, with one side caving in much later, if at all, than the other side.

If you can't see the parallels between the twin towers and Meyers and Plums then you haven't been paying attention.

Do you not realize that because theres stuff everywhere doesnt mean it didnt fall into its own footprint? When a big ass building like that crumples into the ground the energy built from it falling has to go somewhere.. Which is laterally.

I work for a structural steel bending company. I can testify for a fact that different metals can be contorted at different temperatures. For example... some 6" XXH A53A is going to start to weaken at a different temp than A500.
Steel is not universal and all structural steel comes with MTR's, material test reports. These reports provide complete stencil and yield strengths. The same steel can have different capacities, based on the yield strength from the mill.

To top that off, SAPA, Portland's largest(?) steel mill, just closed down indefinitely pending a federal investigation regarding falsified test reports. In construction, there are corners cut all the time and most are not caught.

As far as tonight goes, wow! What an ugly game for us. Love that they didn't quit and scrapped their way back into it, but we lost to a better team tonight.
You guys know how I feel about Nic, so I'm not saying anything! Only good thing about an early game today, we got into San Antonio a lot earlier then we normally do. On to the next one.

    1. Besides the U.S. national anthem before the game, the Charlotte crowd also stood for the French anthem, because of the recent attacks.

    2. After 6 years of being a Hornet, Gerald Henderson was given a welcome and cheered. Maybe this mellowed him, because he sucked in 7 minutes in the 1st half and Stotts held him out in the 2nd. Will Portland fans show their usual class by booing Batum when he returns?

    3. With Leonard out, Vonleh started and got 24 minutes. Apparently Stotts hoped Vonleh would carry ‪extra motivation, playing against the team who wouldn't give him minutes. Cliff Alexander got 17 minutes. Both had good, not excellent box score lines. In the real game, they were adequate without committing wild errors.

    4. Al Jefferson was hot all game. Ed Davis was on the bench in foul trouble in the 1st half and fouled out in the 2nd.

    5. Lamb was stupendous in the 1st half but faded in the 2nd half. Walker was merely excellent. Much of the 2nd half was in blowout conditions, but we sneaked back after they'd gotten complacent, as always happens.

Did you see Batum at all (other than killing us on the court)? Did he touch base with the few members of the team left from last year?
