I'm thinking...(along with the Yanks?) based on Hicks' 2015 numbers with 390 PA it's kinda reasonable to expect him to at least approximate Gardy's 2015 numbers (656PA) and maybe his combined 2014-15 numbers, and, along with his age (just turned 26) and salary 550K translates into.........
....Gardy (and/or Beltran) are on their way out for "help" in other areas?
This could also open up another outfield spot for one of the young players - Heathcott,...Williams/Judge??

Maybe, possibly wanting to also free up more money for some kind of non-spectacular free agent signing ? Chen?
More money also coming off the books after next year.

...sigh ...Gardner had a down year and Hicks had an up year, period...and there's no comparison between the two and there's no reason to believe Hick's numbers will be on par with Gardner's.
...Hicks may have been an everyday player on the Twins but no way he should be on the Yanx...he's been reported to have attitude problems and Gardenhire didn't even care for him. Hicks is a mediocre fringe player who cannot hit RHed pitching....not a good formula.
...Furthermore, Hick's perceived value will be diminished even more as a corner OFer...and if Cashman thinks the Yanx are better off offensively and defensively with Hicks at either corner OF spot, he's an even bigger idiot than I gave him credit for.

...Wow, ...you really could have just stopped right there, instead of mindlessly banging on your keyboard and throwing up yet another needless wall of words.

...as far as "majorities, exactly how many people are supporting your "baloney"?

    ...I'll wait.

...it means as usual, Cashman is out of his mind...how is a switch hitting corner OFer who can't hit RHed pitching perceived as an everyday player in YS.

    Couple of thoughts-
Gardner's "down year" is actually a continuation of 2014 -
Two full seasons which avg out to:
    563AB, .258 BA, 16 HR, 62 RBI, 20/25 SB, 134K, .745 OPS
HICKS has yet to play a full season and had his most playing time last year 97 G, 352 AB, .256 BA, 11 HR, 33 RBI, 13/16 SB, 66K, .742 OPS.
His SB totals alone appear to be quite possible to improve on Gardy's 2014-15 SB totals!
He has shown considerable improvement vs RHP as well as vs LHP compared to his first two seasons of 281, 186 ABs.
Last year vs RHP .236 BA .636 OPS - not good, but IMPROVEMENT.
vs LHP .307 BA, 870 OPS - outstanding numbers.

Incidently, he struckout 49 times last yr with 250 AB vs RHP which projects to less than 80 K with 500 AB (vs RHP)....nothing to be embarrassed about.
Also, I don't believe his value is "diminished" if he plays a corner outfield spot - he is already recognized as being a good defensive CF making 2 errors last year, and as much as I still kinda like Ellsbury, he now has a consistent recent history of getting injured and Hicks can step in.....also, if the Yanks DO believe Gardy and/or Beltran are now expendable with the acquisition of Hicks, this will/should also open up another spot for one of their younger inexpensive players (Heathcott,Williams judge?) which is, imo, consistent with the Yanks trying to improve while SIMULTANEOUSLY reducing payroll and getting younger.
Yank are hoping Hicks comes around and progresses with more playing time and experience and I admit he looks like a work in progress....if he flunks out in 2016, I will have NO problem pointing it out and dropping it in Cashman's lap.

And of course you never have AN OPINION....or maybe someone should just reply to your multitude of long winded drawn out "all about Matt" speeches by simply saying:
He likes to hear himself talk and thinks he's always right...and is trying to impress us half the time with alot of horsesh!t which staggers along with all of it's might trying to be relevant and believing we are all dazzled with his keen insights when he isn't predictably saying Trashman sucks the other half of the time.

Whaddya say Chief? How 'bout it?

Somebody start the FB rumor that cashman draws cartoons of Muhammad having sex with goats. Let's put these Isis fuckers to some good use.
