Yes, this is the sentiment. I believe it's been stated several times. I don't want to lose, but something good comes from it.
Nobody reaches for a brass ring anymore..... Silver? Maybe. Gold? More likely. Platinum? Absolutely. Get with the times Wook!
I hope this season I get invested in the team as they build. As it is, I like a lot of the new guys but there's still no team identity to hang on to yet.
I hate the hack a Jordan or whomever it maybe. I'd be down for a change such as: If a team does the hack a ___ to the same player 3 times for an easy way out the other team gets to choose who to shoot free throws or just give the ball back. Problem is most people don't like change even if it is for the better.
Why punish the team that is playing by the rules? If a coach doesnt want to be a part of it then that player needs to either be taught how to shoot better FT's or be [pulled from the end of the games. I am not a fan of the hackawhoever either, but I absolutely dont want to make it easier on a team if they cant hit thier free throws. If they suck at the line, thats on them. and alls fair in love and war!
Yeah, protecting guys who are bad at free throws is a dumb idea. Even though we're now one of those teams that has people who can't hit FTs, I wouldn't want to see the rules changed. It's stupid that guys can't shoot a decent percentage at the line - these guys are making millions to play a game. If anything there should be a rule that any player who shoots under 65% on the season is fined 10% of their salary.
Better? That's bollocks. If a guy sucks at free throws, then the other team should be able to exploit that weakness.
Dude, you should broaden your mindset. First, Plumlee is like 85% from FT for the last few games? Dont know the number, but I watched the games, so I know its high. This is a guy everyone was castrating after the first few games because of his FT shooting. Second. How many times has Ed Davis been to the line or been hacked on so far??? Ummm none that I know of as far as hacking. Not concerned as a Blazer fan and dont want the rules to help poor shooters as an NBA fan. Sorry man, Not saying your stupid, but the idea is simply stupid. Kinda like saying MR. X golf Player has a shitty putter, so lets make sure he can "Place his ball" 10 ft from the cup on every green regardless of where his chip ends up. Or its like saying, this team is great at offense and defense, but has a shitty special teams, so when they go for a field goal, lets let them sub in a quarterback and.... Really now. How can you be in favor of changing the rules to help out those that suck? Basically marginalizing the game into mediocrity...
The one positive I've taken from the losing streak is both of their freethrow stats getting a bump...I get the idea they're working on that
How about this; teams have the option to decline the free throws and instead just take the ball out of bounds. It counts as a non shooting foul.
That's what I thought a year ago when it was only DeAndre and Dwight. Now there's a half dozen players in the league. There will always be some poor free throw shooters. They are already punished when teams foul them with offensive rebounds or when Stotts did it to Drummond in a pick and role. So changing the rule doesn't eliminate their disadvantage as poor FT shooters. There will always be bad FT shooters in the league. Teams just didn't realize what a good strategy it was back in the Dudley era. If anything I want them to replace all free throws with one attempt, speed up the damn games. FT shot counts for 2 points, or 1 for and1 or 3 on 3pt attempt.
